Topics regarding layoffs at Cloudera

Bright future ahead

I've been with Cloudera for 5 years now since the merger with Hortonworks. Initial management transition was a little bumpy but now things are looking a lot better since the last 12 months. CDP transition is looking great and I am looking for... —  read more

New President...interesting

Not sure if this is good news to have Mick Hollison promoted to President due to him being the Chief of Marketing before and we all know how little marketing Cloudera does outside of Facebook. Hopefully, Bearden and Hollison can get Cloudera noticed... —  read more

Got my notice. Thankyou

After 3 years, it's been fun but the music stopped for me and 4 others. And still more cuts on the horizon for my former colleagues. We've lost 10 customers in the last 2 months to the big cloud guys. Seriously how much more can we lose? I just hope... —  read more

Next round of lay-offs?

My manager is starting to drop hints that there is another round of lay-offs coming. He doesn't know the numbers yet but engineering are going to be cut. We're already facing product dev delays and any more cuts are going to hit us hard and push us... —  read more

Buyout coming!

Here we go. Everyone who is left is hearing the news we are in talks. Bearden cashed out now we just wait to hear who is going to buy us out and where our jobs will go to next

Why did we buy Eventador?

Any insight into this move? Are we trying to get sold or not? This move doesn't make sense to me at all. https://blog.cloudera.com/cloudera-acquires-eventador-to-accelerate-stream-processing-in-public-hybrid-clouds/

So glad I got out when I did

I am an ex Clouderan. Left before the company went public. During my tenure, I was astounded at the 30% turnover (mostly people leaving)....very toxic work environment (inflated egos, out of touch management that hand drunk too much of their own... —  read more

No Sales equals no moneys

The cycle has started, layoff sales, the pipeline dries up. With no revenue coming in from new sales, layoffs have to occur, marketing gets cut as excess administration costs, R&D stops, no new products. You can watch it die on the vine, since you... —  read more

It's getting dire here now.

We're hearing that a large number of sales and field consultants are going to be removed in Jan. No surprises really as not many customers are taking up the shift to cdp. Still bleeding cash and hearing takeover rumours is not good for the staff... —  read more

This only made things worse

This merger didn't fix anything that was broken. It only made it worse. Sales leadership 2x+ prices for customers and are now trying to bleed customers on a "capacity" based pricing model. Hell, this goes against why anyone would use... —  read more

Negativity

All I’m going to say is that after the merger, I am disappointed to see the work culture at the newly formed company. I was a Hortonworks employee and the work culture at Cloudera is quite negative and unpleasant. I also want to say that this is... —  read more

Rumors of layoffs in July

After MAPR officially closes it's doors in June, Cloudera MGMT is already talking about jettisoning another 220 employees. Mostly from sales and PS. Expect an announcement here shortly. Analysts are expecting 10-15% less revenue and Cloudera is... —  read more

Can we have a do-over?

Can we call back people who were laid off last week and actually get rid of those who should have been cut a long time ago for being completely useless? Can we for once actually lay off the right people (or better yet, fire them because they sure as... —  read more

Layoffs 2018 @ Cloudera

Every team in every location has been impacted by the layoffs over summer 2018, even engineering (but mostly Sales, HR, Marketing). Many left on by choice after that, too.
