Starting to hear rumors. And there are a bunch of weird meetings scheduled this week. Does anyone have any info?
Buyouts to be announced tomorrow. Let's hear your thoughts/comments below...
It’s been reported several US companies are giving its employees inflation bonuses to help with the rising cost of items of the last few months. Does anyone know if Giant Eagle is considering do this for employees?
And who is the first to learn about it? I'm new (less than a year) so I don't know how the process works. However, several managers left my store in the last month which has me worried that they might have known something before the rest of us. Is... — read more
I honestly think they don’t want to hire new employees. I truly believe they are trying to save money by keeping the staffing levels low and getting more work out of the current employees. Just think about it. They took the hiring jobs away from the... — read more
Reports from inside corporate state that morale is at its lowest point ever. The rise of Indian staffing, the random firing of long term local employees, completely misguided technology direction, delusions of grandeur in the executive team. Leave... — read more
What a shame. Giant Eagle/Getgo is so desperate to fill salary leader positions they are paying new hire more money then what current and long time salary employees are being paid. How horrible that is. The company once again treats the current and... — read more
It's interesting that the CPO who heads up HR is someone who clearly has favorites when that's the dept and the leader who should be the one to model fair practices. I guess that doesn't apply to the CPO. Maybe that's because the CPO won't be here... — read more
Buyouts were just a way to get rid of the long tenured (read: loyal) people who are over the age of 40+ so they can hire more people in India for a lower wage.
Great news if your a salary employee for Giant Eagle. The 2022 weekly raises have been approved. That’s right. APPROVED. It was a tough battle but once again the $9.60 (.24cent) weekly raises are about to become reality. It was definitely a hard... — read more
Did anyone get on the call yesterday about the buyouts and hear that if they don't get enough people to take the buyout, there will be layoffs?
I understand why they want a cheaper workforce. What is not quite clear is how they think that a cheaper workforce will fix the problems that this company has? I wouldn't want to disparage anyone or sound rude, but I think that such decisions can... — read more
If this leadership had any long term plans, the atmosphere here would be very different. Maybe I'm wrong, but they seem to have absolutely no vision for this company? Sometimes I think that we, the employees, care more about the future of the... — read more
Ok.. I’m I the only one who has noticed that Giant Eagle and Getgo are price gouging. Prices at both places are well above the competition. Now I know why the parking lots at Giant Eagle and Getgo are empty. And all gas stations are price gouging... — read more
Does anyone know if Giant Eagle corporate employees are currently back working in the office or are they still working from home? I currently work in a retail location as a salary leader and the price of gas is ki----g me. If corporate employees are... — read more
https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1i93jyAY I know the CTO brought a lot of his old Kroger buddies over to GE.
Okay, give to to me straight. Two departures within mere weeks of each other. Both leaving for “personal reasons”? What’s up?
Why, oh why would an anonymous site go through and delete posts that deal with people being fired, forced to train their Indian replacements in order to get severance, and then be shown the door. It's quite apparent that companies can have posts... — read more
Just when I thought Giant Eagle couldn't get ANY lower, it appears that they have an agreement put in place to hire migrants, immigrants, who can barely say two whole sentences in English and this is at store level!!! Thank you corporations of... — read more
I don’t know what's worse, working while terribly understaffed, or the humiliation caused by the fact that Giant Eagle doesn’t even recognize that we’re understaffed all while relentlessly squeezing us to exhaustion!? They want us to work more... — read more
Is there any truth to the rumor Getgo employees are looking to unionize? I’ve been told a group of employees are in talks with union representatives.
What I was experiencing here coming from the manager was a bunch of nonsense. Are these people even aware of where they work and what condition this company is in? With their behavior and horrible treatment of employees, they may briefly satisfy... — read more
Why hasn't this been reported to the local news? These are jobs that should be filled by local folks. I thought Giant Eagle was about being a "good neighbor" but it's all about making the most money possible and to he-l with all the peons who they... — read more
I gave myself a deadline to leave in the next two months. Not only am I wasting my time here, I’m jeopardizing my health here.
I left about 3 months ago, and keep in touch with old coworkers. It seems like people are jumping ship, but it could just be the folks I know. Can anyone confirm more or less departures? Thanks

Since it is very clear to me that employees are the ones who suffer because of bad decisions and bad management, I wonder how far we are from significant cuts? Does anyone have any info?
