Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Are salaries heading down?

In the reorg last year every colleague that was not on the Standard pay scale had there job posted at a lower level. Essentially getting your same job back now has you maxed out on pay in the same Grade. Has there actually been any type of an overall pay scale increase besides the meager merit raises which have been taken away from most individuals?

In IT, they are currently trying to force roles which have distinct above normal pay brackets (not everyone’s job grades are the same) to move into roles that have lower job grade ranges though a “skills refresh” to “help their careers at Shell”.

I feel bad for anyone falling for it already.

I heard that some C&P and commercial Ops roles actually moved from Tier 1/standard to a new tier about 10% lower.

HR uses the Tier 3 salaries to externally benchmark but uses the Tier 1 or below ranges to pay 90% of the staff.

Salaries aren’t heading down, but they are beginning to stagnate. Long gone are the days of upward progression. Expect to stay in your current job grade for many, many years.

Total compensation, however, is definitely going down.

@a3 I am saying that roles were moved from Tier 2 & Tier 3 to Standard. Instantly maxing out PIR. There wasn't but a good week to make a decision to post and accept no future merit raises or hunt another Tier 2/3 role. I am pretty sure those are becoming non-existent though.

Are you saying that employees on the standard salary scale did not decline? Which pay scales specifically went down?
