We were just told yesterday that our store is closing in September. No store is safe. We are a REIT store that recently went thru a major remodel and was shrunken down to half the size 2 years ago. Not shocked but didn’t expect it so soon.

@100bnOvb-3gis Says A LOT of people! Come on, don't be one of those fools that blames "the economy" for Sears' downfall, it isn't. The economy could be at its very best (and it isn't that bad right now) and still Sears and Kmart would be in its current mess, wake up and use your head.
@100bnOvb-3ole Even if people had money to spend, you'd seriously think they would go shop at either Sears or Kmart? Please...
25 years ago Sears Wayne (NJ) was the fourth largest Sears store in the country in terms of both revenue and square footage. Now it's on the way out. I know Amazon and Wal*Mart are tough competitors and they're not alone. But this kind of f-up goes well beyond the rigors of competition. This kind of f-up takes years of bad decisions and just not giving a damn about the business or the people who work there.
Sad....all these stores in the Northern NJ and Southeastern NY market that used to rack up high amounts of sales volume are going down the tubes.
It's about time that Eddie throws in the towel and closes the whole sad mess down.
Nothing has changed in post bankruptcy from what was happening hefore....The store closings will continue until the day when it is announced "and then there were none"..
My store in Staten Island, NY was also announced to close yesterday. We are also closing in September. Apparently 3 stores total. Not sure which one is the third one.
And the NY City ones are probably really in terrible shape.
The only stores that are safe at the NY City ones. Once those close the company is finished.
