Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Union guys making more and getting better pay bumps!!

Guys from union shops are making more money in less time and getting better bumps. Non union Guys getting screwed on career progression too. And they have more tights and better job protections. Wtf. Guys from non union and union shops working side by side doing the same work. We all need to be unionized.

Why do you think anyone who disagrees with you is a slacker? You don’t think it’s better to just have a flat raise for everyone? You do know that the company can change their metrics at anytime & make it even harder to achieve a good review. That is unless your a union shop & most likely agreed to eliminate metrics. Union shops are getting guaranteed raises of 2.25-3%. If you achieve a strong performer rating you get a 3% raise. Doesn’t seem much of a difference to me. If you say that you can get 4% raise by getting an outstanding performer please let me know who received that, cause I know that just about no one got that. They made that completely impossible to achieve.

Sorry Luke Skywalker, but I’m not ok with people who work harder getting the same as people who slack. And if you are, I would guess your the slacker. But you probably are the type that thinks every one deserves a metal. The truth is hard work and good results should be rewarded. And conversely, being a d—beat, and a drag on your dept. should be punished. But like I said, if you disagree with that, we all have a very good idea about what type of employee you are.

First of all it’s 2.5% flat raises for first two years then goes to 3% the last year. We have a 3.5yr contract. Our dues are 1%. All metrics are gone after 2019. Please know the facts first before you speak. It makes you look very ignorant. Good luck being an at will employee, still believing everything mgmt tells you.

  1. 5% raises...2% union dues. Not a huge math guy but that’s .5%... enjoy your raise?

@104RDEz0-2ltx Your right But did you go and ask that person why they do that. I’m assuming that’s a no, at the end you do what’s best for you and stop complaining about the person you may think Is not carrying their weight. You do not know why their like that, maybe Their not in a rush because they are secure in what they do and how to do it speed and quantity does not mean better it’s just faster, Anybody can do 10 terrible jobs if they want to. And the part of everyone gets the same raise I’m fine with that I want everyone to eat, I don’t want to be greedy and take everyone’s money and if sacrificing a little less at the end of the year but the whole squad is good I can live with that my friend but can you. Have a blessed Friday everyone union or not I love all my fellow workers work is work and you all know who the real enemy is stop fighting with each other.

More pay? The only thing I’ve seen is now we all get the same pay raises. Best tech or worst tech, same raise. So go bust your but making sure every job you do is %110 good to go, and know the slacker who your running drops he blew off, or changing fittings he didn’t feel like doing, is getting the same raise you are. And if he’s got more time than you, he’ll get that promotion over you, just because he’s hung out doing mediocre work longer than you’ve been here!

Does it really matter what you make. They wanted us all gone right from the start. I don't think anyone should get comfortable with this job. It used to be a career but it's just a job now.

I challenge anyone to show me in any contract where the union guaranteed OT. Let’s see it. If you guys think your better off without a union working at Altice then you are crazy. It sounds like guys didn’t read their entire contract & what exactly it consisted of. Well like I said before show me where in the contract it says union guaranteed OT. I’ll wait, good luck finding it😀🤪😜.

@104RDEz0-1gvw You’re crazy if you think we’ll be better off without a union. You know the field day Altice will have with us? Half of us will be walking out the door. Altice don’t care how good your metric scores are either, if you’re making over $25 an hour you will be gone. At least with a union that can’t happen. Ask yourself who’s the bigger crook Altice or union?

104RDEz0-1tka, did you vote yes or no? Because a lot of us saw this coming and voted no. If you voted “yes” your getting exactly what you voted for. If you voted “no” then we need to get a decertification movement going now!

@104RDEz0-1jnk Union shouldn’t make promises they can’t keep. We were told nothing was gonna change and that’s including OT. They told us in-house would get all the work first and anything left would go to contractors and that is definitely not the case. U need to stop licking boots and wake up. Union sold us a dream and now they just sitting down collecting our dues. FOH!!

@104RDEz0-fso

Please stop blaming the union for no OT. They have nothing at all to do with OT. That is entirely up to Altice. I hear guys complaining of contractors getting there work & now they can’t get any OT. You guys are the ones working FT, 4/5 days a week. Contractors are not getting that, you are. Once again the union cannot guarantee OT. Stop it already!!!

Post ID: @104RDEz0-1jnk

@104RDEz0 union making sure union techs are working not contractors. Can’t agree with u on that 1. Can’t get no OT cause all the work is goin to contractors.

@104RDEz0-whj

The union wants to negotiate the VRP. The union wants to try to get techs as much as they possibly can. Why settle for what Altice will give you, when the union can negotiate a better deal. Also the union wants to make sure that there are union techs in place when other techs take the VRP. It’s all about negotiating for a better deal & making sure that it’s union techs working, not contractors. Didn’t you guys know what was in your contract before voting🙄🙄🙄🙄?????!!!

Post ID: @104RDEz0-flm

So, no VRP, but make sure you attend the meeting on the 25th to learn even more about workman’s comp! What type of scam is this union? They won’t let us take the VRP, but would have the entire work force out on comp! What a joke!

You also have the rite to be stuck here because the union is holding up the Sr. Members of “the team” to depart with a bit of security to bridge us to our retirement. Thanks unions, proving once again who you really work for.
