it's possible yes. when i was 2-ed the improvement time was 90 days, with christmas time off and other holidays thrown in the mix. i took the severance package offer which i understand is no longer offered. so you can maintain your job, but youll always have the stain of a 2 on you for future ratings. bosses don't soon forget those kinds of things.

So it is possible to get a "2" and keep your job? I heard it was unlikely..
as a former 2 you'll get a PSP (the new and improved PIP) and have some amount of days to "get it together". if you get it together you'll stay on board. if not, termed. so it's a gamble of stay and play or get out on your terms.

I’m surprised current and former employees have not filed complaints with the EEOC. Sounds like age discrimination to me at the very least. It would appear that an investigation could easily identify a pattern if there is one.
odd you never see any senior VPs being cut in the same % they are cutting.
So it’s all based on the bell curve system and rating are given on the management trickledown to the little guy. As most of us saw last year the little guy was attacked. I wonder if there will be some much needed management shifts this go around. All I know is this time around won’t be pretty to the groups that keep this place running 24/7, 365. Especially since most of the retirees are leaving. Are they counted in the rating?
What happens, say, if you have a group of 4, and they all have previously been ranked a– (highest ranking), but with the new forced ranking one has to go. So you have 3 ranked 5s. Hire another body. Next ranking you have the 3 5s, and now another 5 say. Who has to go now? It just doesn't make sense to churn through very good high performers just to meet a checkbox or a bell curve.
In Asia, many new staffs have been hired after volunteer retirement package was hand out. Likely more old staffs were affect on this coming performance review process. This is an replacement of old staffs tactics. It will take many rounds till all the old one is replaced.
Not true. Ranking season starts around end July and there will be 2s and 1s to be filled. Performance support plans (aka probation) were dished out to selected individuals during May/June. Alea iacta est.
They don’t want older / existing employees. They want new crew / ex sandisk folks that are blindly loyal to them

I left because they said it was coming! The only way this ranking will go away is if the CEO leaves because he is too stubborn/proud to change it.
I think all companies do a forced ranking of some sort. The question is whether Micron is going to force 10% of the employees on 90 day Performance Improvement again.
