Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Jean English left for Palo Alto Networks

Any thoughts or comments about our former CMO leaving for Palo Alto Networks in July?
Good, bad, no difference?

Her team did all the work. She was too worried about her appearance to truly care about anything other than herself. Shallow and ineffective she did not show up unless it was to her benefit. Of course she took part of the org to PAN with her - orherwise who was going to do her job for her?

Good move for Jean. Palo Alto's stock is rising.

Marketing at NetApp got cut to the bone several transition steps ago. Corp marketing budgets to product lines to support things like trade shows and advertising dried up. Product lines had to come up with their own if they wanted to do it. Can't market without a budget. I'd have left too if Corp cut off my resources and expected me to still do my job.

English was MIA from the get-go. No loss. Good luck with it @Palo

To the last poster who said outside Sunnyvale she was doing great...you must be kidding. A CMO’s job is to gain market share and new buyers through brand awareness. She did neither. The company cannot attract new buyers or gain market share other than flash which is cannibolizing other products. She was horribly ineffective. She must have sold PAN a bill of goods.

I'm surprised to read most of the replies here. Outside Sunnyvale, it appeared she was doing a fantastic job.

She was given 90 days to get out or be fired! Hence her stupid tears that were fake! She was horrible anyway!

When deals like these are lost in a space you claim to own, that’s when the stock truly declines and talent resigns. AT&T partners with IBM and their cloud business unit in deal worth billions. NetApp lost?! GTFOH

To the previous poster about her sounding fake. That just meant she hadn't honed her BS skills. All execs are full of BS. Just because they say it sweeter doesn't mean it is different.

She was awful. Sounded fake. Didn't seem genuine. Anyone working with her saw that. Good move to get her out.

Just a continued drip of resources going to greener pastures. Days are numbered.
