When the deal was finalized and Bass Pro Shops purchased Cabela’s, there were a lot of unknowns. We had great people that left due to that unknown. Who would have a job? What changes would be made? The inevitability of a restructure lingered on everyone’s mind. I don’t blame the ones that left. Ultimately, they had to make the best decisions for themselves and their families, so hanging onto corporate promises was not an option for most. Business went on as usual, morale began to wane, but we still had a sense of togetherness and that helped many of us along; even as we faced each day not knowing what it would bring. I’d say somewhere around the spring of 2018 is when the downward spiral began.
