Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

More info on coming layoffs

There will be layoffs in claims, G&A, customer service and provider. If you are on a team that is being discussed for robotics you are first to go.

Where is this info coming from? Is this from a reliable source or just speculation? I don't want to start stressing over somebody's guessing game.

@10LpFyZ2-Asvx We received an email today praising G Bourdeaux on how she was named Fortunes #5 most powerful woman. She is driving this company to the ground. She is anti American worker and has dropped the numbers of men working for this company. For my organization everyone wonders how G McCarthy keeps her job while everyone loses theirs !

@10LpFyZ2-Asmo How does that work, being told 12/1 is your last day? What happens then? Do you get RIF package? What did they offer, if anything? Is this the new strategy to get out of paying packages? Tell workers ahead of time so they’ll leave on their own and Anthem saves $

I’m so sorry for all of you who got notice today, only a matter of time for rest of us. Likely Dec/Jan. Anthem has become a toxic sewer in the past 2 yrs with a bloated, incompetent leadership team running it to the ground. I don’t get what the plan is. How much can staff be reduced, it’s ridiculous. Yet the people in charge of all the poor decisions stay and staff are either laid off or told to keep giving more for less. And the extra insult of seeing GB hailed as a powerful female leader. Is anyone even paying attention to what is going on?

Layoffs are making rounds right now, my organization is impacted.

Specifically it seems that middle management is impacted, have not heard of individual contributors being laid off today.

I'm supposed to move by EOY or get RIF'd . What would be the best strategy to maximize severance in the event I get another job ? I've heard 1 week salary for every service year, and 40 hrs PTO max (the balance lost)...factored into unenjoyment benefits (ie. no lump sum) . ideas?

It’s not happening this week for G&A. The discussions and meetings will start this week again to cut by end of the year. So expect your notification late October or November.

To the poster in G&A moving from CA to Vegas. Please be advised. This is happening through out the organization. where people move then get laid off. As cruel as that seems it's reality. I have been told by pretty reliable sources that in Some instances Anthem looks to those who move as being non marketable. In the job force. Please do not take offense. This is what Ive heard a few times from different resources. They think that if you moved you must not be able to get a job somewhere else. I know that's awful

To all posters here. Please be in the 'know' read up on your total rewards statements go in to my pay and make sure you know your benefits. If your eligible to retire. Ask for a retirement package, also negotiate your package. Any unclaimed benefits goes directly into Anthems pocket. They won't tell you if your eligible for retirement. Good luck to us all, as I sit here like a sitting duck waiting. Don't allow Anthem to make us victims. ..

I woke in G&A and out of the Las Vegas office and there are whispers here that we are going to be laid off as early as this week. Does anybody know if these are true? Some of us associates were moved from CA. We have a big meeting this week which has everyone thinking it’s happening. They are saying even Managers are also part of the riff. Why would they do that when they just moved us out here or opened this office less than 2 years ago.

That would make sense, as would this theory: So Work IQ is being delayed until the middle of next month. So of course recon would be skipped for now until Work IQ can be implemented and people like me can be weeded out and not paid severance. Be nice if they'd just do it now and get it over with...I've had apps out to various places but I keep getting no's. I'm not giving up though. Good luck to everyone, RIF'd or not, trying to jump off the sinking ship!!

I have to think it's only a matter of time for reconsideration. They are already training wipro personnel to do our work, and considering how much work we task to other areas, it's only a matter of time before McCarthy and her cronies wise up and cut out the middlemen / women

I had a talk with my manager today. He wouldn’t confirm nor deny these rumors which means it’s a confirmation. He did say unfortunately because of this leadership team tough decisions will be made all around in G&A but said I didn’t have to worry myself because I was a top producer.

So I am sorry for asking, but when you say GBD G&A...does that include Reconsiderations? As in the PNG7.2 people? that department does not have work iq YET, but is planned to get it next month. That would be why I'm wondering if recon is included, as they won't have WIQ in place yet to make people lose out on their severance.

Yes it’s next week. First Thursday in October is what I am being told. GBD and Commercial G&A is going down. I was also told quality teams and process improvement teams.

Responding to @10LpFyZ2-mqlg I was told yesterday that the layoffs are back for Grievance and Appeals and it will be in October. Their goal is to use WorkIQ numbers against associates to show they are underperforming so they don’t give you the severance you truly deserve. If you have been with Anthem a long time you are a target. Don’t believe this leadership it’s all coming from Gloria M and Luareen R. They need their bonuses so they have to deliver!

Work IQs website says it all processes should be automated and how well your robots are performing. Basically they want their "robots" to perform better so they can reap the benefits..

I am from Grievance & Appeals and we have been waiting since June. Why work hard when it is just a matter of time. No one likes who they are working for no one likes who they are working with and our leaders don’t care anyway.
