Thread regarding Synamedia layoffs

More Layoffs Synamedia Lawenceville

Synamedia LR 12 second level manager in Lawrenceville last week and the VP is also retiring (so in his words). All 12 manager reports direct to him. I wish them the best but it was hard to see what some of them were doing except keeping a paycheck coming. Synamedia is still top heavy with managers and no leadership.

Tech compensation has increased significantly in the past 10 years in Atlanta, why on earth would anyone stay in LWR with no raises for 10 YEARS? Wow...you would probably get a +50% pay bump from another employer

To the UK comment, don't feel too bad; I am in Lawrenceville (and had solid yearly performance reviews) but have not seen a single pay raise (not 1 dollar) in over 10 years. To be fair though, have to blame Cisco for almost all of that !!

What’s the average pay in LWR? How much does a G12 make?

Remember that almost no one in the U.K. has had a rise or a promo forever. How do the grade profiles compare?

Oh please, Chucky was full of it. No one was going to drive to LWR because we didn't offer any compelling products. Do you think Redmond/Seattle were on the map before Microsoft and Amazon came along?

Chucky said it best, no one worth their salt wants to drive out to Lawrenceville. When I worked there everyone was retired on the job, nothing but deadwood left. The workday for most was to show-up for a few hours, take a 2 hour lunch, send 3 emails, and then call it a day.

I would guess Video Processing will be sold to someone like Sky for needed cash but what amounts to a song (e.g. $50M). North America video processing will be shuttered which is how things have been evolving anyhow.

Several Sr. folks in LWR Infinite/cDVR engineering from the old SA crew were offered "Early Retirement" packages. Although it was "optional", my understanding is that all of them accepted. What does that tell you about their faith in the product and company? At least they were paid out per Cisco guidelines, so they fared well. Other groups in LWR started LRs this week 9/9/19. And yes, expect there are more to come by the end of the month.

LWR folks should really consider moving on before the next recession and don't believe any BS being shoveled at you. LWR is to Synamedia what LWR has been to Technicolor (share price down 90% in last 3 years, TCLRY). DB did cartwheels and all the dirty work only to be thrown out the door. I know from direct experience, that guy is bottom of the barrel - and I never post any such thing about anyone.

So DB is leaving ? Now, I understand why I just saw on LinkedIn that Tzvi is being promoted to SVP.

LWR - bend over and kiss you A good bye.....
