Store is vacant. 35 registers but two were open. No one at customer service. Staff that were there didn't seem very happy to be there. I asked about tablets (Surface Pro) and they said they don't carry tablets outside of the iPad. Demo computers are falling apart, there was a laptop on display with the screen broken off of the base and laying next to it. Glad to know that even though they don't carry electronics like that, that they have magazines and Funko Pops. That's always what I'm looking for from an electronics store. Siri, play Taps

They always only have 2 registers and many empty.
Just responding to the department manager to say that's not how unemployment works. A company pays taxes on you, similar to how you have money taken out of your check, they have hidden fees on their end as well every time they pay you. Part of that money is for possible future unemployment. Though in my experience I've met CEO's who don't understand that either, so I guess it's a real common misconception.

Take it with a grain salt if you believe me or not but I was a department manager who recently quit Fry's Electronics. The company demoted all department managers down to "Specialist" and cut our salary pay down to minimum wage plus sale commission. Soon after that was into effect, the company drastically cut down on all my associate's hours in my department from 32 hours to just 12 hours.
Couple weeks after they cut more of my associate hours down to zero hours and they demoted my position again down to regular sale associate and now I only make minimum wage. Note how I say zero hours... it's so Fry's doesn't have to pay unemployment because technically they are not firing you, but just placing you on hold.
So yes. Fry's Electronics is falling apart especially ever since they got rid of their whole management team. Yet... whoever is calling these shots are failing that the more labor cut they do, the company suffers more. It also doesn't help when the company owes a lot of money to vendors for the products that sell, which is why it is incredibly hard for Fry's to keep inventory of anything is because Fry's does not pay their vendors.
Yep they are close to being out of business
