It's been 6 months since MILLIONS were spent for the San Diego party for upper management. What was achieved - higher attrition, still low employee engagement, failed projects....? May be the ceo should try something better next time - like a cruise...

I am on board with cutting management. IBM having too much management is part of what sank that ship, and the holdovers are like an anchor for GF. GF has others problems too, but all the ex-IBM mgrs are dead weight GF doesn't need. I saw that at EFK. We would have workers cut through "resource actions", yet managers would never be touched.
Not sure if it is just a passing comment or something more substantial. I've heard from 2 independent sources that there seems to be a lot of buzz about major reorg in the works. With Samson getting his hair cut, Donkey Kong moving on and General Patton riding into the sunset, the new regime of Paul Bunyan and Gumby is looking to put their marks on Fab8. I am hearing a lot about making Fab8 more like Singapore in structure which would eliminate some of middle management as well as have groups focusing on single product/family rather than functional groups across product. Likely going to be in the next few weeks so it is all ironed out by end of Q3.
Malta. Could have just been a passing comment from my friend. My manager hasn't said anything to me, and last year he told me I wouldn't be hit before the layoffs were announced. Still worried though with all the focus on cost cutting.

Had a warning(?) given to me by a friend in mgmt... "be glad [my) wife has a state job". Is that because layoffs are around the corner? Maybe I am going to be targeted this time? My mgr always gives me good appraisals and says I am his most valuable guy. It's got me rattled TBH.
Tommy and his gang (+Peter) were touring the Singapore site, the one that he wants f1 & 8 to emulate. Seriously, I doubt anyone cares whether he shows up or not tomorrow telling lies about the “10”.

Once they get to universal studios Singapore they will be served hot dogs and hamburgers and watermelon.
Party is still on. Next week the whole SLT is flying to Universal Studio Singapore to celebrate GF 10th anniversary. Well, if Micron is doing the same by celebrating its 40th anniversary in USS, GF just has to do it right?
What other company bill their employees to charge their electric vehicles ? This is a very basic and clear example of the incompetence of people in position way above their skill sets. Take a look at the SLT and notice which ones do not list their education degrees.
another high level long time exec quit. The party was to convince THEM not to quit. Nothing to do with the lowly workers. Massive stock options given out. Look at the parking lot. Empty till 10am. If that doesn’t show lack of motivation. If you can get a job you enjoy then quit and take it. If you’re ok with being compensated and asked to do nothing then sit and spin.
