Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Who will be the scapegoat?

Someone’s head will roll. Should start at the top for buying Spectra’s POS infrastructure to start with.
But the bosses will find somebody else to blame. No names. Roll or department will do. It will be done before preliminary NTSB comes out.

Everyone is replaceable, even infrastructure planning

"An unsupported span of Enbridge Energy’s Line 5 oil pipeline beneath the Straits of Mackinac has grown to 81 feet, surpassing the 75-foot limit outlined in the company’s easement agreement with the state."

Time for a meeting of the minds? Oh wait, they already left, not really any Einsteins left over on Westheimer Court

The business model from 3 years ago is no different than today, the difference is that talent left on its own while the company was trimming fat and low performers. Enbridge is now nothing but a group of so called thinkers, that can't do but rather talk and make suggestions

I miss the company we were 3 years ago before Enbridge. What the heck happened? It's really sad to have to start over at a new company. Oh well you have to do what you have to do.

Are you in Infrastructure Planning? Because 6 months will not be enough to replace the irreplaceable.

There is no appreciation for the employees they have and until there is, this company is doomed. I say that as an employee preparing to leave. I will be replaced after they spend 6 months trying to find a replacement, the work will go undone at considerable cost, and all over the sake of a couple hundred bucks and a Director who won’t admit he made a mistake. I can only imagine the impacts this type of environment has on areas within the company where lives and property are on the line.

Enbridge or former Spectra has no Engineering capabilities, Operations or Design groups. If they have a problem they just call folks around for help. They sign and stamp nothing, take zero responsibility over any work on their lines....

To answer the OP’s question, I think BY will probably come out of this with his job.
They may chop AD, even though it’s not really his fault that the pipe is blowing up. Nevertheless, he’s the head of the Integrity group, and all the ruptures have happened during his tenure, so he may get it pinned on him anyway.

Al and his bunch forgot that their most valuable asset in this business is quality and competent staff not pipelines

Most all other companies are paying top dollars and invest heavily in their overachievers...not Enbridge though. We like Yammer butt ki..ers, yer sir politicians and accross the board incompetence. Once you take away the option of challenging management and then have to come to work in a toxic environment the results are pretty much what you've seen over the past few years, projects over budget, late in service and c-appy quality.

Maybe look at the guy/gal who laid off all the Spectra people when they were aquired.

I don't know that looking for a scapegoat would benefit Enbridge at this time, but certainly it is alarming at which rate their pipelines rupture compared to other Companies. Having worked for Spectra in the past I will say that they are stubborn in their way of building and maintaining pipelines and facilities. Used to be a saying, probably still around, the "Spectra" way of building projects, one of the most stupid things anyone can say when the only constant in this industry is Change. It's unfortunate that mid career professionals were forced out the door by lack of promotion opportunities and appreciation so now the lead dogs can no longer find their way out the "Spectra" way. Sorry folks but one way or the other you'll open up the wallet and the way you're doing it now just ain't money smart
