Thread regarding PerkinElmer Inc. layoffs

Layoffs at PerkinElmer 2019

Nope! 13 year employee in sales leadership just laid off by the saddest group of executives we’ve ever had.

I haven't heard of any layoffs at PE lately - do you mind providing some more info on this? When exactly did it happen, what was affected?

I'd appreciate any info...

Worked there few years ago and got fired because the incompetence of upper management are trying to save their own job, passing the blame downwards.

PE has been doing this since the late 80. It was a good innovative company back in the day (Norwalk, CT). Many of the PE and Thermo products are garbage (that why you do not see them in labs). PE's OneSource program along with Thermo is fading away fast, and Agilent MV program is all but dead. PE, Thermo and Agilent cannot find the multi-vendor talent needed to support the programs. I am sure there are many customer to support my claims. Yes, I have worked for Agilent, Thermo and PE - All there are a joke.

What else would you expect from a company that have sales people with no formal academic training in the world of chemistry? Also, people have been at the company still past their retirement age. Would you still want a sales person to help you generate revenues when that person may not work the next day? The company is a joke.

it looks like there will be more than 30 redundancies on the Turku site in Finland
there were about 50 in Shelton, and about 100 in total in the US, CA and in recent months

Loss of experience. I was laid-off August 20 from the Hopkinton site (Ivis Imaging) after 12 years. As a Sr manufacturing tech they lost a boat load of troubleshooting experiences, now the department is struggling to keep production going. To save money, they let me go instead of ME’s that spend their day going to useless meetings that resolve nothing. Go figure.

Yes many laid off! Many over 55 years old to. Some of these people have been with the company for over 30 years!

many people are being let go across multiple sites in different functions. This is on a scale longtime perkinelmer employees, like me, have not seen. A number of them spend 10+ years with this company (and with acquisition before). We had a miss in revenue targets and the new CEO is making his mark to hit the numbers promised to wallstreet no matter what! Sad, but company is NOT going to hit their numbers with disengaged workforce, I have heard from a lot of disappointed employees.
