What is future of Predix ? I am seeing no communication, development or investment in it and it has had several outages in past few months for which no RCA given. I am beginning to believe the rumors that it's going to be shutdown in 2020.

They've been trying to unload this hunk of junk for a couple years - with no real interest from buyers - which suggests that it may just wither on the vine until it is given away at some point to the GE businesses or a consultancy.
Predix ist kaput.
Forward looking . No rear view mirrors please.
You are one hundred Forrest Gumps away from smart.
The Azure effort is no longer a thing.
With the partnership between GE digital and azure I think predix will slowly merge with azure IoT and cease to exist independently.
You are right and wrong.
Right - focus is the core competency
Wrong (sort of) - Because tech companies grow so fast and keep growing even when at huge size, there have to be other (sometimes strange) things to look at.
Wipe out the pride and arrogance that drive decision making and ask this question first: Who will really win in each area of focus?
I thought it's irrelevance had been established publicly. See this article. https://www.zdnet.com/article/developers-favoring-aws-microsoft-azure-for-cloud-iot-platforms/
Full disclosure, I work for GE Digital, had a sh*tty day. Just posting in order to create some sort of self awareness for those involved.
I saw the GE Digital disaster unfold from it's early days. Yes it was a clusterf— of epic proportions. But this was not inevitable. Of course #1 mistake was Bill Ruh, a guy who hung on endlessly kind of like Sean Spicer on Dancing with the Stars.
But what were the other factors?
There had to be a M2M solution.
ThingWorkx could have been bought.
But there had to be a M2M solution.
Prefix core needed to be designed and built by ten world class engineers, not hundreds of mediocre nobodies. Instead we got bozo explosion.
Prefix had to be sold outwards - not into GE itself. Selling to non-GE customers had to be the priority.
Then there was the hiring...
Hiring was a massive Indians preferred hiring program from day one. Awful thing to say but true nonetheless.
All in all, a truly epic clusterf—.
Most good people have already left or cut out. The remaining neither have the resources nor are competent enough to get anything done. This is a dead weight. RUN! RUN! RUN!
Vaporware the whole time. And it was obvious to anyone who actually tried to understand what was being done.
But the emperor continued to walk around with no clothes, and those who dared point that out were told to shut it.
What did you do that was so meaningful during your tenure that got you cut?
Predix is sh–. The concept is flawed at the core and it has never done anything meaningful. And the rest of the company f—ing hates everyone in digital for it. Predix gives everyone in the software space a bad name. May it rot in hell. And anyone involved in perpetuating its b—s— should please, for the love of god, stop. We all see you. Everyone. The jig is up.
I predix no future
Amazing the web of half-truths spun about this "platform"
Would an end year 2019 capitulation announcement be possible. Start 2020 cleanly...
Most GE projects are currently have been moving to AWS for quite awhile. Predix will soon disappear.
