Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

Our New CEO

I have to admit, I am impressed with who we have chosen as our new CEO. This guy seems real genuine and knowledgeable. It wouldn't have taken much from our last one to raise that bar, but I think we hit it out of the park with this one. Nice work!

Just my 2 cents.

I don’t know why this commercial reminds me of Riverbed leadership but the poor decision part makes sense:

@RM, Read Glassdoor reviews if you need to cross reference TL.

“ Is the CEO asking tough questions to the C staff“

Probably not

“ What would be the right questions to ask?”

Maybe what department heads are useful or has made positive/effective change? Are your leaders thinking outside the box and solving problems in new ways? Have your leaders addressed any outstanding issues? Do you feel departures are a result of your leaders leadership style? Do you believe your leader will make you successful? Do you feel your leader is minimizing/circumventing your efforts or ideas? Do you feel our products are where they need to be? Given a magic wand, would you replace your leadership? Do you think leadership is coasting, doing the minimum to get by? Do you feel your manager is a check box manager? Do you feel we need more process-driven managers? Do you like backseat managers? Are you confident with the riverbed product and roadmap?

Just off the top of my head vs those vague and ambiguous questions.

What would be the right questions to ask?

The survey is lame. The first 3 questions does some basic identification - what happened to anonymity?

The survey questions are asking all the wrong questions.

@RM - checkbox checked, good job

It looks like the new CEO is following suit like the other CEO’s - starting things off with a survey. Sigh, think differently and you’ll yield better results.

I’ll take get rid of the decaying upper management. I’d even be more impressed if RM gets input from non-executives as this would ground breaking.

@RM - your existing executive staff tried a gazillion things or nothing to drive change but nothing ever works. They fire people, they reorg teams, they create new teams, etc but the problem remain the same. The existing executive team will conclude the problem requires more changes, processes or training and fails to realize that they’re literally the problem. Don’t be a traditional newbie CEO and ask this same executive team what needs to be done - they’ll literally do the exact garbage over and over again until riverbed disappears. If you want to do things different, don’t ask the executives (directors+) or else you will be reliving the failures of the past. Get rid of the decaying leadership team, they are only good at pretending and controlling information.

What’s there to be impressed about? Show me the money first.

Don’t count your chickens until they hatch. Not saying RM isn’t capable, but stay cautiously optimistic. For perspective, what company during his tenure in MiTel didn’t make $. It’s easy when times are easy. It’s the rough economies that separate the men from the chaps.

Strong, positive move. I'd feared RVBD was heading for the sc-ap heap but this hire tells me TB is serious about turning things around in a major way. McBee is a proven growth-through-acquisition exec and not another network-head.

Just make a search Mitel on this site and you will find out who is mr. McBee

But PM got paid and could just retire. While you are still working for peanuts. Wonder what the upside for the new CEO is.

I just saw PM was gone, what happened, TB finally wised up? PM always looked high af, it's a good thing that sloppy cro-magnon is gone, not a leader by and sense of the word.
