High-end retailer Barneys New York could cut up to 311 jobs in New Jersey as the company continues to seek a buy amid a recent bankruptcy filing, according to a notice filed the state Department of Labor.
The New York-based company has a distribution center in Lyndhurst, Bergen County that serves as its main order fulfillment facility, a spokeswoman said.
She confirmed the layoff notice, but did not know if all of the layoffs included in the notice were from the Lyndhurst facility. The company does not have any retail stores in New Jersey, she said.
The layoffs would be effective Nov. 1, according to the New Jersey Department of Labor filing.
