Thread regarding Freddie Mac layoffs

Is this number correct?

People are saying that anywhere between 900 and 1500 people will be cut from Freddie Mac - is this possible? That number feels awfully high, even too high in my opinion. But I've been wrong on things like these before, so who knows.

Where did those numbers even come from? An official source or a rumor?

LoL! I know several 50+ year olds who have built ‘strategic’ relationships within Fannie and Freddie, who simply take the buyout money, wait it out a year and then come back as highly paid contractors to spread the same nonsense and lack of technical/business prowess all around.

I've heard it's severance packages for people over 50 who have been with the company over 10 years.
Could effect up to 1800 people.
Generous severance could be full pay for 36 months if eligible

This was originally rumored as “several hundred” layoffs. Somewhere along the line someone put an actual number of 900-1500. Think that’s a bit high and I've heard will be closer to 500

Freddie Mac has over 6,500 employees. Those estimates would be in the range of a normal company wide reduction of 15%-20%
