IT got hit hard - cos who needs them? they don't make money. All those systems run themselves, right?
Always a sad event for the people involved. Stressful times made more difficult by the current pandemic situation. This is a life changing event for many people. Some people will thrive while others will feel defeated but hopefully only temporarily. Stay positive and appreciate your family.
100% true. Entire teams were dissolved yesterday. 50-60% reduction in NA staff, primarily from Calgary. Personally I know 32 people that were let go.
Layoffs happened today. News tomorrow.
Managing what I suggest? Everyone that is still there is only there for situational purposes and that’s HR putting packages together. Opex is being spent in fields of opportunity GOM, Buzzard possibly N—ria offshore, Capex is going to a downtown office that has far to many Chairman’s, Presidents, Senior VP’s, North America President and on and on. It’s a daily circus over there and it’s just awful that people go there everyday wondering what’s going to happen, very sad indeed.
I'm sure all management positions are still there because they protect their own.
Not sure why they actually keep a Calgary office?
Eventually we will end up with 5 floors 100-120 people on each by May next year, small packs are being let go, Chinese continue applying more pressure. 300 people in 2021. And less and less. Bad choice by Harper, we still could do well with our international assets. Lesson to learn.....
Not true. More like 20.
If the layoff is big enough, it will definitely make it to the news. May not be big in Calgary.
I know some were let go yesterday, no word on numbers or which departments were hit.
Pretty sure it would have hit the newspapers if it was true similar to Husky’s layoffs last week. I’m also not sure they have 500 people in the Calgary office any more.
Is this true ?
