'100% layoffs are coming! It was suppose to happen in November December but it may be delayed in first pay in January. It is going to happen. 100%!'

Posts like this are just jerking your chain. Yes - might happen by year's end or in January or February. When that doesn't happen, maybe it's in Q2. You starting to get it?

Unknown at this time.... Layoffs were suppose to happen soon but it is delayed. Good luck to rsops and dcops in all data centers.

Not sure about lay offs or what our company does or what my job is for that matter but can we create some safe spaces here. All of these corporate people are triggering me.

I'm not 'in the know' but with new management I don't expect the annual 'holiday layoff.' I'm not naive, there are a lot of challenges and a lay off may very well happen in Q1, but I don't think there's going to be a Q4 lay off to 'meet numbers.' That's just my take. Really, if you are at SunGard and you aren't doing much - yes, you should be worried - but no more than any other company in the same scenario. Be honest with yourself - if you're sitting on the sidelines right now, yeah, you should be concerned - otherwise, you're probably a part of the few seasoned folks who are needed to maintain day to day operations. If you're one of those seasoned ppl on a team expected to keep things together and you're on this board complaining, then you're probably ducking out more than you think and leaving the tough work to your coworkers. I know I'll hear from those folks who are 'balls to the wall' - yeah - probably won't get better - I've been in those lean groups at SunGard and I don't blame you for being salty. Don't expect your 'years of service' to provide any allowance for things to get easier - it's only going to get harder from here.

There is no roll over of vacation time, that ended two years ago, I believe. So, if they do wait until January, there is no earned vacation time to pay out.

Sgas employees earn their vacation employees 1/12th at the end of each month. So it does make it less expensive for the company to do layoffs in January, Yes, sgas employees can take all of their vacation days in January - the risk is if they are laid off, the company will deduct unearned vacation days from severance.

@6kji Check your HR handbook rocket scientist. "4.2. Upon termination all employees will be paid, earned but unused vacation....."

Board meeting this week. RIF may not happen until January. That way they don't have to pay out any vacation.

Don't understand the amount of down votes Missthegoodoldays received. I have commented on this board before about my manager and the fact that he and those in my department have treated me well and have been fair. When my day comes I am sure it won't be an easy task for anyone involved as I have been with this company through the good and bad for over 20 years. If I were to be laid off and the company somehow miraculously comes out of this slump, I would definitely give it another go - if they'll have me.

I’m sure the managers are upset when they have to let someone they’ve been working with for years go ... HR on the other hand doesn’t know you from a home in the wall ... and have to probably be concerned with legal matters since many recent rif’s were “reductions” at all ... sungard just wanted to shift work to lower paid, less experienced workers in India ..... and while I guess it’s saving money .... it’s costing us in other ways .... less happy customers ... forced overtime etc

I guess it depends on the manager or department that is doing the lay off. Some may be genuinely upset of having to let people go. Others treat you like a number...?

I was there for a long time and got treated like layoff # 530

Not upper management and haven't been a part of the company for quite a few years. Just commenting that I feel bad for the state of the company and that people may be laid off. When I got laid off I was treated with respect and appreciate the way I was treated. It wasn't fun and I wish it didn't happen because I enjoyed my job. I learned a lot there. Hopefully, the layoffs don't happen and Sungard AS is able to turn things around and go on a hiring frenzy instead.

Hey Missthegoodoldays, did you really say you'd like to work for Sungard again one day, after having been laid off. Stay off the d–gs bro. Crack is wack

I got caught up in a RIF a few years back and they treated me very well, was professional and gave me a fair severance. I have nothing but good things to say about how I was treated. I hope those that may be impacted are treated as well as I was. It wasn't fun being unemployed and I miss working there every day. I felt I worked with great people, great teams and enjoyed the challenges we attempted to overcome. I am constantly using the lessons learned from my time at Sungard AS in my new role and I feel I have an advantage due to the experiences I had at Sungard AS. I hope that Sungard AS can turn things around. I would like to work for them again one day. Until then I feel bad for the state of affairs, the people being laid off and those doing the actual layoff... it isn't an easy thing for anyone involved.
