Buffalo Point’s customers were mostly Cabela’s high paid employees
Now there are not many left to spend that kind is money on single meals
It is true Buffalo Point will be closing after the first of the year,
Could this be a sign of the upcoming closing of other businesses?
And or possibly the closing of the retail aspect of what was Cabela's Sidney as well.
Such sad sad days are upon us.
Cabela's was fine until they started bringing in the "experts" from Home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart.
Buffalo Point is up for sale
So basically what you are saying is that the nepotism and cronyism the brought Cabela's to the brink of disaster and the eventual PURCHASE was transferred to the management of Bass Pro?
You all realize that nearly every VP and Director position is held by Cabela's employees, right? Yes there are a few exceptions but who do you think has been making some of these decisions? They are saving their jobs at the risk of others.
wow. you got one business closing right. What are you a week behind. . Is this the first one you have ever gotten right out of how many business closing you have gotten wrong. lol.
Sonic is closing, and in my opinion, it's the first of many more.
It is horrible to watch the slow death of our community, every time we have a glimmer of hope we are kicked to the curb again.
I do not foresee and true recovery after this fiasco. greed and nepotism as well as poor management both at Cableas and at the county and city government has devastated everything. Now what is left, the remnant, will have to pick up the pieces and try to rebuild.
Sidney or the surrounding area will never be what we had a few short years ago,
Sidney used to be a nice place to live while Cabelas employed majority of the population.
Now it’s not the case and will never be the case again.
Cabela’s “was” a very successful company in the era which it was found and operated. All of that was before Amazon and other online competition with price wars existed.
Those times the outdoor enthusiast and loyal customer either did were not tech savvy or not shopping around and it worked in favor of Cabelas business or great products with high margins.
High paying jobs in Sidney were possible only because of Cabelas success.
It will be extremely unlikely if not impossible to get a company attain same level of success by doing a business similar to Cabelas.
Any other employers who will move to Sidney will come for cheap real estate and cheap labor. No way will they create high paying jobs and get Sidney to same pay levels as there once were.
Bass Pro buying Cabelas was a bad business decision and only time will prove it.
This is almost as bad when the Sioux Ordanance Depot closed and pulled out.
Who is or what firm will come our rescue this time.
I highly doubt anyone.
Move and do what ???
People are paid to move in certain places
Here the people are expected to pay higher taxes while the incentives are given to businesses to move
what the last person said
fool me once...fool me 6 times
Come on, people. I saw this coming years ago. YEARS. The corporate garbage came down the company emails and if you were smart enough to read between the lines and know how corporations use language to dance around what they're trying to say, you'd have seen it too. The first mass layoffs came, and people went to work for Quad. The Quad managers didn't even move to Sidney- in interviews they talked about their home offices and none of it sounded like any of them were going to permanently reside in Sidney. Lo & behold, Quad graphics closed down. I'm amazed any carts were still hitched to the Cabela's wagon.... and for you people hanging on to the call center.... how many times do you have to be fooled? Isn't the saying fool me once, fool me twice?? Aren't we on like, 5 or 6 by now?? Cabela's/BP will close all operations in Sidney.
The 120 or so who are moving, can move into the space formerly occupied by the BPS call center at Base Camp when those jobs are taken by Cabela's after the first of the year. At least the Cabela's call centers will remain in Nebraska.
I'm sure this was the plan all along...make a statement to the press that they care about jobs in Sidney...then once all the stories die down ...sack the last of the Sidney workers...Thanks Cabela's family...you have destroyed this town with your greed!
So much for keeping jobs in Sidney...that was all a sham until the media attention went away
You have to think if Bass gets an offer for the building then IT will move as well. Just because IT is busy doesn't mean they, and the data Center, won't be moved if Bass can make the numbers work.
I hear that Applebees is going out of business
yet another sad day for us here in Sidney it seems as though we cannot catch a break.
IT will stay because of the data center in Sidney and it is the only busy department out there.
HR and IT are to stay
That's probably all that was left. Sounds like they're shutting down the entire corporate building.
How many jobs are left in Sidney ?
Is this the final nail on the coffin ?
