Thread regarding Anadarko Petroleum Corp. layoffs

WES? An opportunity?

One says it is a great opportunity and another says only the expendable employees would go over to there. Is it worth the risk? Will it be able to be viable and stand alone? Or just getting ready to sell so just gotta make it look good then here’s the door?

I heard that some former executives (with golden parachutes) were interested in buying it. I’d rather poke my own eyes out with a spoon than get within 100 miles of those guys

Risk is about options and I would not consider one answer as best fit for everyone involved.
Do you have VSP? option for COC due to job role change? Option to work on either side E&P and WES?
Will need to play to your skill set and at the same time to the team that you feel best chemistry fit.
By the way, it seems WES will stay as part of Oxy near-term so there will be osmosis between the two over time, A solid performer can always determine the future either inside the organization or in the open market. At the end then it will not be a fatal error either choice.

From your lack of understanding of the business I would guess you are “expendable”. Asset can’t be sold without a staff. If you like looking at hole and it doesn’t bore you to death go with production. If you like building things, traversing land, processing products, running things that require power, marketing products go with WES. You can make a living at either.

COC is the only upside to the “opportunity”.
