“Continental save us” — HH would walk in and terminate 3/4 (or more) of the staff, sell the building floor by floor, and have one on one meetings with every department.

No it is something else. It is trivial to the industry but related to some local issues. It is not a merger. That is all I will say. So don't get your hopes up.
