Thread regarding Adidas layoffs

Layoff at Adidas are going to be long-lasting

The layoff planning already started begining of 2019. The final plan with the people to be laid off will come out before Christmas 2019. Around that time people will be announced that they will be laid off. This is not the end. The layoffs will continue iteratively till the end of 2021.

The atmosphere in the headquarters has already been bad for the last 2-3 years. It is going to be quite a hard time for the company to carry out the plans easy, given that there is a very strong union and employee protection culture in Germany. adidas is not the same company like 15+ years ago. Fair play, social conscious are just words. Profit is what matters, and mindless senseless automation.

Local press is talking about 600 affected people in HQ, today.

One can just hope the press in Germany will bring this forth and show the lack of action on works council's side as well as adidas' strategy. Adidas is growing and booming, but is laying off people, and Works Council which should protect employees, is reporting to the CFO which is steering the layoffs... Do the math. A company is only worth its people, but the Danish bloke doesn't seem to get it.

It was announced already at different levels. It is said that it will happen primarily in EMEA, but not only. Portland is the only one that might not be impacted.
Why Christmas? Because it is the end of the year, when people are off...

Where did you get this information? Which markets will the layoffs occur? What departments will be effected? What is the number of people expected to be impacted? Why before Christmas?
