Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Ask yourself! WHY am I working for CenturyLink???

Serious....look in the mirror and ask yourself...WHY am I working for CenturyLink??? The next thought should be ...this company treats me and others I work with, like Garbage.
Then you should open up the job boards monster, career builder, Indeed and start looking for a company that appreciates your knowledge, experience, your hard work and dedication!!!
Just do it! Your better than this!

I'm union too pal, I understand the benefits of it too? Guess what so do "they". That is why they will do their best to break the union ...They are working on it now...your "Union" isn't the strongest? and hasn't kept you all at pace with other wage earners in the same field? But thats ok cling away....

@11vqisWE-1biz

Im betting if another round of early retirement is offered many will do just that. the fact they just quit offering after every 3 months for 2 years is quite telling actually

Other utilities mostly pay more, with better benefits, and have hired many CTL.. I don’t think he meant go to other antiquated Bell’s or cable. The boards are full of high paying jobs for in house techs to run the teleco rooms and systems. School districts, military bases, hospitals, banks, hotels and on and on. The titles are deceiving, they call many of them engineers and such, but read the description, and a lot of it is doing exactly what you all do. Most of the best techs and managers already left for more lucrative positions, the brightest are already gone.

@11vqisWE-1rqz ..................NOPE sure don't !! I do however understand the continual shrinkage of the company. I see where it will continue. I see where copper may indeed once again get spun off as a separate entity. Yes i can see all of that ?

I also understand I am tiring of getting my butt chewed for reasons beyond my control . In many instances it makes me sympathetic to the "Customers" plight . It makes it difficult to be proud of something that's totally not what its represented to be ....You Know what Your right !!! yes sir, the entire industry is feeling its spiral. and the large change looming in the wireless future . sure does not do much to help with the current status quo?

The amount of dollars allocated to repairs seems to be only in heavily populated areas. The Rural areas that in many cases built and carried this company for the last 35 years. Have been decimated by bean counters ,turned telco managers. trying to get simple 300 foot sections of 50 pair is nearly impossible. actual facility cable and building terminals? NOPE use drop wire and NIDS instead lay cat 5 across the ground a few feet back in the woods sure 4 terminals is fine.....

No sir your right other companies have the same dog stains in the grass .....But wasn't it nice when the grass was green?

You Damn id–ts really believe the grass is greener in some other companies front yard? I have worked for the “other guys”. It’s the exact same thing, just a different logo. Wake
Up!

When I walk into a customer's front door, I know that there is nobody, anywhere, working for any company who is better prepared than me to provide them with the service they want, and I receive average industry pay for the work I do. I get the job done, and so do my peers in my work group. So I really don't care what CenturyLink does at the top levels on a daily basis. I'll jump through all the hoops they want me to jump through so long as our customers smile when I leave their premise, and the paycheck doesn't bounce.

Every day I drag myself out of bed and convince myself I can go in for another day, I ask myself this same question. My answer is, I only need two more years if the place lasts that long.
Yes, the job boards. Small companies would love to have me. They don't pay enough. Large companies think there is something wrong with you because you would want to leave after 30 plus years.

So, you stick it out, apply for jobs and hope they don't give you a heart attack like the others.
