PM gone, AE gone ... now we just need an upgrade to SE leadership

AE at PANW. Wow.. Good ol boys club eh!
RR was a bust. His only success was hiring an exceedingly great leader for the Govt sales org 5-6 years back (which was critical since Govt sales is like 20-25% of worldwide total revenue every year). Everything else he did was micro-management and harder-not-smarter. He wanted to be personally involved in every little $50K deal rather than developing big picture account relationships to drive recurring revenue, additional PS deals, etc. Sales people liked his style because he was like them: always banging on all 8 cylinders, work hard play hard, etc. but his accomplishments from a business perspective were essentially zero.
Riverbed would’ve been different if RR had taken over and Different/better leaders would have emerged. Sad that riverbed has hundreds of chances to do things right but failed miserably and 90% had to do with leadership or org chart fillers.
Agreed, SE org is a mess and current leaders aren’t really qualified - just more fluff and hot air
AE was really good at firing people - guess that’s why he got the job
We r all going to pstg yummy.
AE was the wrong choice from the first day. And was selected For the wrong reasons. The trail of destruction started before him, PM was over his skis and AE was never going to be successful because it is not in him to build a team, trust, or execution. It was all about him from day one joining the company. Zero credibility integrity or ability to relate to humans.
i welcome my new overlords. Let the sweeping downwards continue.
We have SE leaders and a technical sales leader - are the two redundant? Never understood why the TS role was created - never needed before, predecessor didn’t nothing and things are fine.
It's amazing what happens when your only lifeline leaves. JH leaves and KC crumbles and does the same- but only after leaving a path of destruction. PM leaves and AE gone shortly after too. No one just "moves SKO.........." (and survives the decision)
With all the rifs reorgs and change they should have to reapply for those leadership positions. Sadly most have no experience in the domains they are now leading.
Some SE leaders are good but definitely not all
SE leaders have been in cruise control for sure
Seriously, the SE org needs an overhaul! Same things over and over again - no clear direction, strange training exercises and ZERO culture -just leaders barfing things out, checking boxes and mastering invisibility. The good SE’s and Younger folks will never join or stay long since things are too process heavy, rigid and some management is still learning how to be a leader
AE's departure is addition by subtraction; a complete zero. With PM landing on his feet, though, my belief in an orderly universe is shattered.
