If the market makes a turn soon, do you think there will be Fedex Layoffs 2020? Any news or rumors?

I just got my d–g test done today OCT. 26TH 2020 for FedEx Express. I currently work at Winco Foods for 18 years on November 6th 2020. Should I be worried?Should I not leave my 18 year job for FedEx Express ?
Today, September 22, 2020, I got my "Separation Package" from FedEx. I've been a part time Team Member at FedEx Office for a few years but now they're eliminating all part time jobs.
FedEx begins laying off furloughed employees as stated below. All opcos reported internally that last week they make the calls and cut the furloughs. A statement released said that tho the 179 million in profits, they had to protect the investors and cut the portions that aren't contributing. Cashgrab has begun.
Real. Contact their Media relations.
Yes it already began 9/16/20. Then they move to 7 days a week with FORCED OVERTIME
It just was announced
Aug 2020, 100-200 are affected, Fedex Express Dubai
I have been with FedEx for 15 years and we have gone down hill, after 15 years I recieved no paycheck this week, yet a guy with 4 years , a horrible work ethic, and who complains anytime he has to work a full eight hours did get a paycheck. This company has one of the worst seniority structures in the business. You are locked into one job, change jobs and you lose all seniority forever, oh sure you keep your " company seniority" for earning vacation but that's it, if you change jobs you will find yourself a 15 year veteran waiting behind a man with one year to choose your vacation ..this company s—s
FedEx just cut 60% of it's work force
I work for Fedex office inside a convention center, once the hotels closed We were relocated to other stores within our district. It’s been about a Month now and they just layed off all Fedex office hotel employees very sad a lot of people break there backs working as a district and we get layed of. Fedex need a union, I wish people in the company would organize and stand up to big Fedex corporat
Fedex freight laid off back in 2008. So don’t say they have never done it before. They laid people off and never called them back just hired new people. Fedex is an evil company. Best thing I ever did was walk away from FedEx.
They just told us yesterday at FedEx Freight. We are told they are going to be offered a voluntary furlows (layoff). We can collect unemployment. Government is giving us a bonus during covid scare (26 weeks)so our pay wouldn't suffer. Our insurance would be still active and we can make payments to it when we get back. Oh, and that's the part they said they "don't know all the details about yet". I call b—s—. So the call back after you take time off will depend on your seniority, but how that seniority is determined they don't know. It sounds to us like you step out of line and your on the bottom. This just sound like s–c-de 🤬 why anyone would "voluntarily do this is crazy. I think they are announcing it like this to make it sound good. But in the end they will lay off. I started with FedEx Freight in 2009. I started working there in the fall. They had just laied people off in February. So, they have done this in the past. Our economy is going to be hit hard. This is the result. It isn't going to be pretty
Yep, they are going to start the Furlows next week 4/13/2020 after they get the approved manpower stats for every center / terminal in the U.S. It includes FT Drivers and FT dock workers from what I've been told. The Furlows (Nicer way of saying layoff) couldnlast 6 months and FedEx will cover medical insurance for the first 4 months. If an employee is not recalled within the 6 months they will lose their seniority and basically have to be re-hired, if anyone is stupid enough to go back. They will supposedly be offering these Furlows as a voluntary option at first and then they will be forced based on the food “seniority” chain.
FedEx freight has decide to start layoffs soon in the up coming weeks we was told today in a preshift 4/9/2020 so yeah the layoff are true sad to say smh.
Fedex has never had a layoff of front line staff and never will. Fedex is not afraid of Amazon as it was only %1.8 of Express when they carried Amazon freight. Fedex has a tremendous morale value in each and every station, and it is this that drives the team. The stock will bounce back and intelligent leaders will "fly the plane".
my daughter works for fedx and just called me upset asking up I heard the about the bomb they let lose yesterday....huge layoffs cutting ground deliveries.....she is worried sick ...she has been with them eight years full time ....told her don't panic yet! They r starting in NC with the layoffs..she is in NOLA any body with news?
We were told by an Express driver that they are discontinuing that resulting in layoffs.
They need to... We are beyond that for a solution though. The Jurassic period ended long ago and the mighty FedEx is a dying notion. The culture is horrid. Employees fight to keep complexity and old technology to enhance job security. Leadership has no strategy. Processes are overly complicated. Employees re-create the work of win awards. The tension among key people is real. Fred (bless him) is old. Richard (bless his heart) is not ready. Outside leadership is prohibited but the answer to the problem. Hope for the sustainability of this company is lost. Prediction...disappeared or severely atrophied in a decade or less.
I imagine the Fedex board here on "thelayoff" will become very active in the coming months. Amazon will destroy this company fast and no innovation from Fedex can do anything about it. Amazon is involved in other businesses (not just delivery), therefore have income and can sustain delivering packages at a loss for an indefinite amount of time if they wanted to and judging from Amazons history, they will.
According to the earnings call the company won’t do cut backs because it might effect morale.
Layoffs might be the next logical step. Its executives don’t know how to right this. Making it up as they go even. Big company with a ton of cash but when that stock price gets below $100 bad things will happen.
FedEx will need to buck its culture and bring in outside talent to turn this ship. The leadership in-place today cannot get the business where it needs to to compete. The culture is more concerned with hierarchy over value and optics over reality. Layoffs are obvious but FedEx needs to embrace a new way of working. Innovate!
