If the economy turns around, do you anticipate any Johnson Controls Layoffs 2020? Any news or rumors?

I can’t say enough bad things about this shithole. Think of all the absurd things that happen on The Office and magnify it by 10. That’s JCI. Oliver and his ilk have a GE Management style stranglehold on the company and employees. If you don’t blindly go along with the idiocy, that always benefits him and not the employees, you get blackballed. It’s a scam. If you are reading this and are thinking of working for, or doing business with JCI, please run away. It’s a dumpster fire on the downhill slide.
The quality of the equipment is so bad that there is a surge of warranty repairs even during installation of new equipment. The time alone and write offs make a branch incapable of meeting goals set in place. The sales reps have stooped to low levels and integrity to keep up with unreachable goals... meanwhile the entire company is putting more and more on their front line workers to reduce staff within the office. This company is reaching out to investors and keep furloughing employees to make their stocks look attractive... when behind the scenes, they have stopped write offs and changes until they find those that may be ignorant to throw money at the company.
The Jacksonville office should be closed due to all the thieving and incompetence.
The CEO is a charter member of the BFFC.
The CEO is a corn hole artist.
Johnson Controls is run by a bunch of monkeys. As long as the CEO Oliver gets his bananas then to hell with everyone else.
Upper management are a bunch of thieves. It starts at the top. The CEO does not care about the rank and file employees.
This wasn’t a sudden event. This company has been rotting from the inside for years. Horrible, self-serving leadership comprised of people way more interested in keeping their jobs than in doing their jobs. Rampant stupidity, fueled by a deeply ingrained culture where it’s more important to conform to the way it’s always been done than to take good risks. Speaking truth to power gets you fired. The worst company I ever worked for, by a large margin.
Just fyi in almost every state non competes will not hold up in court and most states it's illegal to sign after you're hired especially for a severance I would check into that
Got laid off late June. Had to sign a non compete to get a small severance that will keep me afloat for a few weeks. The whole company is a mess. I’m sure the people at top are still nice and rich while the people at the bottom starve.
JCI laid off 11% of the workforce on Monday. They have all working through July 20th and will get 4 weeks pay as a severance. They also get to keep the 401k match, vested or not. This occurred after 3 weeks of furloughs and the company not contributing to the 401k for all of 2020. I believe that JCI is going to outsource key chiller components and also cancelled some big product development projects.
Don't worry shareholders... due to the cash saved by mass layoffs JCI can continue the stock buy back program on Q3.
I was let go a week ago and although promised a 2 week pay without notice, I wasn't paid today. JCI at it's best, yet again
George Oliver held 1,034,250 shares of JCI stock on June 1 worth $34,719,772.50. Those shares were worth $35,516,145.00 at the time. The increase in value of George Oliver's JCI stock holdings during the layoff period (June 1 to July 1) was $796,372.50.
George Oliver just cashed out $772,925.40.
That is not a coincidence. He cashed out the value that was created by layoffs once they were complete. He knows the ship is sinking and that he could not wait.
George Oliver sells 22,620 shares of Johnson Controls PLC for $772k on July 1, 2020 days after conducting mass layoffs at the company:

He knows it's about to crumble. He's cashing in on the backs of the workers and at the expense of former, long-time employees. What a joke.
I was let go two weeks ago. Absolutely no reason given and was only given a two weeks severance package. Company is going completely downhill. Keeping employees who aren’t trust worthy and barely know how to do their job and let go of the good ones. What a dump
TYCO was the mistake
They are laying off sales and sales boss's. The Covid was an absolute mess. Had sales collecting cash and doing all kinds of nonsense that had nothing to do with selling, I have been with 5 sales organizations and they are the only company I have seen that talks about selling and take sales out of the field to watch videos and have meetings via Skype to talk about selling. Forecast and Salesforce 1.5 hours a day, That is a full day of doing unproductive work. They were requesting payments on work not performed yet but cant pay their own bills. George ran GE into the ground he will certainly take JCI down the same path.
Warn only applies if 1/3 rd of the work force is laid off.Jci has about 130000 employees.
Anyone know if they gave laid off workers severance packages?
Tons of layoffs last week and this week. Even branch sales guys. JCI didnt even lay off sales guys in the 2008 crash, so it is bad.
I have worked here for many years. Everything is so incredibly outdated, inefficient, unorganized, and it is impossible to do business with JCI. Even if we can miraculously sell a job, our product quality is abysmal.
I am applying to Trane and shorting our stock on Monday. Already started deleting all the files from my computer. Farewell JCI.
I was just laid off with 2 hours notice. I thought there was something called the WARN act requiring companies to provide 30/60 days notice for a mass layoffs. Oh wait, this is JCI, They can do whatever they want and get away with it.
Yes I was dismissed yesterday from my position at JCI. This coronavirus has distroyed lives, jobs and the economy. I Hope that everyone who has lost their job finds something quick. Good luck 👍.
I’m one of 5K in North America, so I’m told. Maybe more worldwide. Truthfully, the company is an utter mess systems wise and the offshoring is just making it worse.
Yes, it's true. They got me and others too :(
Thanks JCI
JCI Johnson Controls hearing over 15k employees losing jobs in June 2020, any word on this major cut, the stocks are not showing a drop based on shareholder knee jerks?
Major lay-off this week. People dropped like flies over the past 3 days. They are not going by merit or time with the company. There is really no rhyme or reason to it.
Remember...If you lose your job to offshoring or foreign competition, you may qualify for TAA Trade Adjustment Assitance.
JCI will not tell you about it. You will have to see if your unit is TAA certified, if it isn't, call your local workforce office and get the party started.

Place does not care for its employees
There are more layoffs today.. not sure on the numbers yet.
Hazard pay plz
yes. My job in billing has been moved to mexico. A 20 year employee of the company. We are no longer valued employees. We are disposable.
Most of my department was outsourced to India during Covid-19.
Apr 2020 was furloughed, then Almost all of May 2020. I agree the only people working in the company are the India folks.
JCI began layoffs on 4/29/2020 due to a reduction in work force. They did pay the stock holders a dividend with no substantial impact however!!
State of the economy will have nothing to do with whether or not there are layoffs. There will be layoffs. The jobs will go to guys in India who are paid less than what McDonald's employees in the US make, which isn't even good pay in India, so their turnover time is less than 1 year. The system takes well over a year to really understand, being so old and complex. That means that these engineers they are offshoring to typically break the products and then leave the company. JCI leadership is so disconnected from their own development process that whoever offshores the most jobs will be rewarded even though it's literally destroying their main product line (Metasys) which is full of critical bugs, barely functions, and hasn't really received a worthwhile update in years.
Place does not respect its employees
This will not stop. Your best bet is to get your unit TAA(Trade Adjustment Assitance) Certified so that you'll be able to get benefits including re-training and other benefits people get when their jobs are offshored.
Check with your local unemployment office for details. JCI WILL NOT help or tell you of this.
Yes, they just laid off a rumored 800 people nation wide.
