Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

That's it!

About two weeks ago I was told my destiny on a call - I will be released at the end of the 1st quarter...

Thank you to all the big executives for throwing money away.

Because you know all you have to do is fire the lower level employees to make up for your mistakes!!!

Wasted so many years with this company just to be treated like a piece of trash!

Anyone not an executive is layoff fodder. It doesn't matter what you are working on, cloud or FirstNet or supporting million-dollar customers. Unfortunately it will be your turn someday.

It seems the most incompetent are the most surprised of being let go since they are the most clueless of the value of what they actually do. The rest of us actually realize what's going on.

It sounds like at this point even management is spitting out the kool aid and if you haven’t figured it out yet everyone may as well abandon ship now.

That’s what happened to me at a job. I was canned after 12 years with no severance!! Gotta love the American way!

That is how FBO is handling it as they notify employees to train Accenture then get them off payroll. Very chaoticm

I am in this organization and trust me it is far from BOGUS, they are outsourcing jobs in waves and each wave was given their pre-surplus notification and told approximately which quarter they would receive their official 60 day notification. In the meantime these groups are to train Accenture employees to take their jobs.

Only reason they didn’t do 60 days and out is because they need employees to train Accenture then they will be done us.

Just because you haven’t heard of this doesn’t mean it isn’t true, trust me it is. Currently living in the hell!!!

Could be someone in Weaklend org. FBO employees have been given verbal notification of their surplus quarter fir 2020, and the employees doing knowledge transfer with Accenture now are scheduled for surplus late 1st quarter. The calls were on Friday, 11.1.

There's truth to what OP is saying. One of my colleagues was also told on a call they are on the short list for the next surplus.

None of this is new or secret to the management chain. They know roughly when it's coming and know exactly who they're going to kick loose.

I empathize with you having been in this situation and recovered. But what makes you think that T’s actions are driven by poorly conceived strategy?
I think they are driven by psychopathic executive class throughout Wall Street that essentially is claiming all the benefits are its own and other workers are worthless. A friend of mine at TEK- m (Indian company) that took over his company was “released” after 25 years of service without even a penny in severance. The id–ts even cancelled his health insurance effective the day of his departure.
Times are changing.

Lol... told on a call. Yeah right.
End of 1st quarter?!? Haha. They’re not going to give you 4 months before canning you.
Try again troll.

This doesn’t make sense. There are guidelines that have to be followed, this sounds bogus.

So much for the Trump tax cuts!! The CEO will get over $25 million this year! Randall probably has over $300 million in the bank and will get a severance of over $100 million when he retires
