McElfresh will give another self-serving, tone deaf announcement on 12/2. I fondly remember the days when the worst you really had to worry about was a union work stoppage.
Agreed AT&T shouldn't have acquired DTV. But the bashing of DTV in this thread is ignorant. Prior to merger, DTV was an extremely well run company loaded with talent. And then... the Borg came along. The talent hitting the exits is from DTV, which is leaving T with a shell of the asset they purchased. Nobody is left that knows how to run it because it's not just another phone company.
T management has so little idea how to get things done; arrogant and ignorant is a bad combination. "Hey let's have another conference call with no agenda that ends with no action items other than another conference call". Agreed that linear TV is a declining market, but good God people, what's been done to the asset is borderline criminal. The same will be done (is BEING done) to Time Warner... it's inevitable. The Elliott Management letter to the board was spot on. T does need to purge it's bloated payroll, but the bigger problem is they have no idea who should stay and who should go. The talent will leave, the parasites will stay, and the cycle will repeat. Ask yourself, why would anyone stay long term with marketable job skills? No shame riding this train into the ground, especially for those that latched on to six figure management position yet can't get their head around a pivot table or, gasp, a vlookup. Incompetence is easy to spot.
To the person that commented "...DTV leadership with their arrogance got rid of so many talented AT&T employees" I have two questions : 1) How the hell do you actually 'get rid' of someone in this company unless they steal something or drive drunk in a COV, and 2) who are the talented employees you speak of? OK, that was a cheap shot on my part... there ARE legit quality people, but they're well aware that this company s—s a– and that DTV nor Time Warner are the issues here. AT&T is a disaster... like watching a slow motion train wreck.
Dead company walking.
As in WarnerMedia?
In my region, I heard rumor company is planning to rid half of the dtv techs and the remaing half will start training for uverse iptv.
they should fire 70%+ of DTV management and employees - this is where the company is bleeding now!!!! no one wants to buy a losing business. DBS is like floppy disk drive, get rid of it and fast.
What division? Wittrock? Arroyo?I’ve heard cuts to entertainment as well.
“Beyond talented... leadership”? LOL that is rich
DTV acquisition was a huge mistake .... unfortunately, the DTV leadership with their arrogance got rid of so many talented AT&T employees. I hope they fire all DTV management!
DTV is sinking this company because of Stankey's stUIIPID decision to acquire it for a huge sum of $$$$$. All DTV employees received so much money after the acquisition - unbelievable!!!! AT&T management should go to jail!
Not only do they have an Entertainment and Internet Group, I could not think of a better place to cut the fat, they are the biggest pork barrel in the company, lead by some of the most arrogant b–tards
“Att has an entertainment and media division?”
Not sure if serious and you have been living under a rock. Or joking. What do you think DTV and TW are?
Check T stock price today. Got a downgrade, Wall Street not that confident in Randy’s three-year Given the challenges in the entertainment group. So unfortunately heads are going to roll.
