Thread regarding Art Institutes layoffs

What’s left?

What’s honestly left? I left AI back in May and it’s sad that the schools are still struggling. What’s keep you all that are still left there?

1st year classes at AIH are 5 week sessions. Guess it makes it easier to secure new money. But these new students have no clue how slim the chances are they will get their money's worth.

@12HYibIe-6cun There may be something to that theory. Our faculty coordinator was let go after the class schedule was set too. If that's true, that they plan to keep the schools open until June, then Ai has hit a new low.

As an adjunct my schedule is set through June. That never happened before. Now I know why. Department chairs and faculty coordinators were probably instructed to do so, and then got laid off. Is June the end? We also have no dean or registrar.

I love Ai! I'm a grad. The school changed my life. I'm there to help change student's lives. It's a great school, serving a niche market. That's why I'm there ... For the students!

I work at transfer campus after mine closed. It is good and the students wonderful but we have less than 800 population so unless corporate starts investing money on promotion and program building this campus is also doomed. To be honest, there wasn't much out there when I looked last year. I interviewed and had 4 offers for adjunct positions with lower pay, long drives and terrible hours. After many years as full time professor, degreed with extensive field experience it is a disappointing that the market continues to cut full time professor jobs and benefits. I enjoy teaching at AI and will remain for now.

I'm at Ai because it's a job. I joined Ai because I believed that I could help bring out the best in students. It's hard to do that when those in charge refuse to provide educators with adequate resources and funding.

Is so sad to see how many students will be affected for the lack of profits. More people will be let go. Anyways some of the degree offered are worthless...

There isn't much left. If you look at some of the more recent topics on here you will see that there are still cuts going on. Many students are leaving Ai and some of the best teachers were let go or they walked away.

Same reason most people stay at jobs they hate...they need a source of income.

I have bills to pay and there's lack of well-paying jobs in my area. Those are the main reasons why I'm still at Ai.

Also, I do love encouraging students to follow their dreams. I can't speak on the other campuses but we had great instructors at the branch I work at. There was a ton of potential here and I hate seeing what the school has become.
