Severance!

What's the situation with severance? Who is eligible to get it? All full-timers? How much is it per year?

Knowing that severance is a guarantee would make all of this much more bearable.

There was an Administrative Claim form sent out with the last correspondence that Pier 1 sent to the employees. Enclosed with the letter was the Administrative Claim form to file for severance pay, wages and vacation pay. This form must be filed electronically with the Virginia Bankruptcy Court Before June 30, 2020. Your best bet is to consult an Attorney to fill it out and file it properly.

My store closed in February and I to was told that I would receive a severance package when the closing date came closer regional directors where being let go. All the while Pier 1 was filing a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in Virginia... This was filed a few days before our store closed. As employees we should have received notice with a proof of claim. ie administrative claim. If you want that severance payment or vacation pay you better file your claim before the deadline of June 30, 2020. The notice we received was with another notice. I over looked the administrative claim form an almost threw it away. Customer service will not tell you how to fill it out either. Your better off having a consultation with a bankruptcy attorney and hope their office will fill it out for you. Pier1 keeps the truth from the associates for instance they keep saying we dont know when the stores will close. Well the bankruptcy petition they filed in the bankruptcy court states October 31, 2020 as the last day for Pier 1.

How many past Pier 1 store managers are out there? What's happening isn't right.

I was laid off end of February. Last I heard, we weren’t getting any severance due to the bankruptcy filing. I was a store manager at my location for nearly 6 years. The only reason I stayed was for the severance pay. Does anyone have any information if former employees are getting anything at all? The retention bonus was supposed to be sent out to former employees but I have yet to receive anything

just got a letter from the company stating that they cannot guarantee the amount of our severance payments anymore, nor the timeframe. This is outrageous, does anyone know if there's anything we can do in response to this???

Managers of US stores were told 2 weeks pay for each year worked capped at 20 weeks. Now with chapter 11 they get sh–. Nada, nothing. Pier 1 exec's were given up to $750k retention bonuses. They are all pieces of sh– at the home office

Originally I felt sad that Pier 1 was experiencing financial problems. I wished the CEO and board of directors success and hoped they could turn things around, while I appreciated the positive parts of my time working for the company over the years.

Now, after closing down a store in Canada, I realize just how f—ing worthless the top executives think Pier 1 retail employees and managers are. They offered a severance package and had Canadian employees sign off to getting a week of pay for each full year of service, as per the Limited Severance Plan Agreement. They said over and over, “Only a small handful of stores are closing! Make sure you tell everyone that!” They convinced some staff to transfer to other stores under the false pretence of helping them stay employed, when really it was done to keep specific stores with high turnover functioning for an extra month. And then, just six days before closing down, we were told the company declared Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection. With that, we learned that the severance packages we signed off on receiving were being cut down to 1 week of pay.

I’m certain those sneaky f—ing b–tards deliberately timed their announcement this way and instructed some Regional Managers to encourage a very optimistic sounding lie.

I have been with the company for 10 years. I am an ASM and literally work my a– off lifting furniture and k–ling myself every day. Moving the store constantly for transitions while my manager pretty much does nothing. I am full time but hourly. Found out I am getting a weeks severance like every other associate while the Manager walks away with thousands. But now they want to work us to death closing the store. They want to treat me like an associate , well thats how I will work. Not running myself ragged anymore for this lousy company.

If you are not full time. Do not expect anything. I would just go look for a job and bounce once you are offered and hired. I have been there once before with a retail company.

Regional managers will be discussing details with GMs early next week. All management and core staff will have incentives if they stay through til final closing day. GMs were calculated first, everyone else will know by next week. Confirmed that accrued “floating holidays” and “vacation” will be paid out, “sick hours” will not.

Management and sales leaders are being offered severance payouts. It appears to be calculated based on seniority and is a percentage of average hours worked (at least for part time staff). Not sure what, if anything, associated will be offered.
