Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

High Quotas!!!

Am I the only one that believes the quotas for this last quarter have been outrageous? There are 13 reps in my store and only 1 of us even made a paycheck last month and not even $1225!!! Had a meeting yesterday with my manager and he basically told us that we’re working for free this month with 120 lines needed and a $15k bucket...

Corporate Retail stores are closing left and right. Indirect stores are taking over as the new business model.

@12jgdNmr-7xkl

How do you create a union for a job that has no requirements? In order to work in the store you need to be able to stand and speak english

hate to break it to you but unions are for skilled positions like transmission linemen

Unionize or learn to smile while you eat that garbage.
Choice is yours

I can think of 3 reasons for 30 min queue (not que) at stores. 1diot customers, du-mb employeees, or both. The company would like to rid themselves of both. Retail exists for unprofitable elderly customers that should not own smartphones.

Get a better job then.and quit complaining

Why would somone wait over 30 minutes to get slammed with stuff they don't need? Data transfers really? There are a million ways to do that with apps. People are dumb but really? My time is way too valuable for that nonsense.

@71zw , verizon will not continue to employ and pay health insurance to someone that can only sell phone insurance and accessories. Please get real and stop thinking the company exists due to sales of a bluetooth headphone at a retail shop. They are closing stores everyday in case you are blind.

VZ needs to continue to have these retail stores paying $20000 per month rent in high profile locations to continue to push $50 car chargers to people that don't own cars and sell 1 or 2 new lines a day. LMAO

Post ID: @12jgdNmr-7htv

Well, over a 30 minute que daily at my store (Corp). Without these stores there would be no one to coddle all of the needy customers, even the ones that do shop online end up bringing in their c-ap to have data transfers, phone activations, Sim swaps and more done because the general public is needy and lazy. Without the stores there is nobody to push the products that make vzw most of it's money, accessories and phone insurance, both are pure profit for the company. No reseller or bestbuy store is pushing that stuff, and if they do, those company's are getting the money, sure vzw gets an activation, but they are not getting all the extras that help them to take in money.

I don't know anyone that shops at cell phone stores. They just get their phones and service online or go to Best Buy or one of those other bix box stores. Retail is not the end of Verizon. Profitability would go up if you got rid of stores.

Corporate-owned stores are going away. Dealers do all the work, and take on all the risk. Verizon just collects the check. High quotas and such are a way of wringing the last few dollars it can out of the public and its stores/employees before they close it up, and a dealer opens up in the same space in less than 24 hrs. Literally overnight. This has happened, and will continue to happen until there are no more corporate-owned locations. In case you haven't seen the writing on the wall yet, here it is.

Yes. I sold Motorola 550's, Elites and Ultra Elites in the 1960's at my local GTE Mobilnet Store.

Won Presidents Cabinet every year which was not a participiation trophy.

Bought 10 rental properties with my windfall of comissions.

Now retired and living off the income of my 10 rentals. Each rental houses 10 starving millenials who will never be able to afford to buy a home.

The end.

@12jgdNmr-4chg: Ok boomer. You worked retail in college? When? 1960’s? A lot has changed. To reduce the role of SS as “clerks,” means you probably haven’t set foot in a store in a very long time. You’d struggle to do even half of what we do. Just say you hate the working class, and move on!

If you want to white knight, at least do it for a more morally righteous company. Verizon is not the hill to die on.

Wrong. No contempt. Just facts.

Selling? You mean lying? It is a natural human trait, not a skill. All people know how to lie.

If you all have college degrees, then use them. I think store clerk only reqires a GED.

Post ID: @12jgdNmr-4chg

Again, proving what I said, the guy below has utter contempt for the front line employees, (most have college degrees by the way) and isn't sales a skill? Ther has been thousands if not millions of books and research on the complexity of successful selling , and most who try are not successful. So why the contempt by Corporate people ? The attitude of go work for target or walmart if you don't like it , comes across you.re superior, than other people. Thanks for the comment you put yourself out their! Thanks for proving the point on the lousy culture

Post ID: @12jgdNmr-4ozk

I worked retail while in college. It is a skilless job anyone can do. Don't make being a retail clerk a career. It isn't one. It is an entry level job. If you don't like the quota, then go work at Target or Walmart or find a better career.

|
Post ID: @12jgdNmr-4joo

Again, the terrible attitude towards front line employees is right out in the open on these layoff sites. The contempt of front line retail employees by corporate employees( most worked in retail before getting their jobs) and landline calling them " clerks" is right out in the open by the comments and attitudes shown on these pages and by the " corporate visits" during Black Friday" ! 99% are not clerks and are very hardworking dealing with all the problems that walk in the stores doors everyday while trying to achieve an unattainable quota. The majority that are staying are still trying, however the moral is lowering every month. Most employees couldn't do what they do everyday and after a while would not do the job helping the general public. It beats them down , again with little help by store mgmt.

Masters degree here to the id–t that thinks higher paying jobs go to college graduates... as an engineer most jobs are contracts and full time ones only pay so much...

@2kjk - You think corporate retail is the backbone of VZ salaries? lol... Stores don't pull their weight anymore. You should have stayed in school kid. Don't be mad at people that have skills worth paying for.

This is all of retail. To those reading this from other parts of the company calling us obsolete how about you come to the store and deal with the sh– we deal with. We are the backbone of your f—ing salary... F— off

by
|
Post ID: @12jgdNmr-2kjk

I think the point was unions can't save obsolete professions. Retail cell phone clerks working in brick and mortar retail stores making more than minimum wage in a highly competitive, saturated business is obsolete.

@1pox: Milk men, elevator operators and video store clerks weren’t unionized. Telephone operators are and they are still employed by Verizon.

I know. Look what unions did for milk men, telephone operators, elevator operators and video rental stores! All thriving in todays modern world!

Post ID: @12jgdNmr-1pox

Quotas continue to rise and paychecks are steady declining. I'd say bring in the unions and get your worth bc it's not going to get any better for us in store

by
|
Post ID: @12jgdNmr-1qxh

For those of us that don’t know what you’re talking about, what do you mean that you didn’t get a paycheck? What does a $15K bucket mean? Who has to add 120 new lines? The whole store or what? Why would anyone work and not get a paycheck? This sounds crazy.
