Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

When was the last time your functional manager talked to you?

We all had our people manager give us a mid-year reviews, but what about your functional manager? When was the last time they met with you or the team to talk about policy, direction, issues or questions that have been submitted?

For me it's been almost a year and when he/she talked they really didn't say anything useful. Sick of this two-in-box management style. Fire 1/2 the managers and have your functional/people manager be the same person.

What is a "functional manager"? In Dec 2018, our contract was up for renewal. They said it would be done by end of March 2019. In May 2019, they said that the customer would not sign until Cheap Skate Corp did a "market salary review" and brought up the salaries to be comparable to the customer's salaries. "Oh, that will be completed by Oct 2019". BULLSH|T. Here is is, over a year later, we still have no signed contract, no g0ddamned pay review.

Daily meetings? Sounds like the productivity whip is being used every day so New Mike can extract as much $$$$$ in profit for his performance pay . Total b0llucks as always from a desperate employer. Give me a 15% pay rise and I will cease my complaining on company time.

Seems like everyone thinks they are my manager. My functional , my people manager, all the project managers, and anyone else that is manager thinks they can assign me tasks. Well they better think again or this person may just tell them to take a flying leap.

Had plenty of meetings about task 1 - nnn from really poor and bad Project Manager (on one project multiple PM's) at CSC then DXC but little and confusing direction with no support, no training and plenty of work being lumbered on my shoulders along with constant WFR (since 2004 at CSC)

Glad I left this cesspool of company and only chance of saving one is is a big management reorganization from top to bottom getting rid of ineffectual processes and management.

Most of the really good managers left last year. I never really bonded with the reduced manager pool.

I miss normal company management where you had a staff manager and you would interact 1:1 weekly with them and your director would pop his head into a meeting once a quarter. Neither is happening with me. I'm lucky to get 1:1 time once a month.

I have never talked or listened to my director. The leader above him has sessions but not q&a.
