Thread regarding Cloudera layoffs

It's getting dire here now.

We're hearing that a large number of sales and field consultants are going to be removed in Jan. No surprises really as not many customers are taking up the shift to cdp. Still bleeding cash and hearing takeover rumours is not good for the staff around me. Many are holding onto options hoping they will go back above what they were awarded at, cash out and then get out. Gotta feel sorry for our customers who believed in us only to be left holding the can.

I know someone in sales who got laid off last week so it’s not just engineering. Wondering if it’s because we are losing a ton of customers to competitors, or just reducing expenses so we can get acquired. If it’s the 2nd I should just stay so my options can actually be worth something. If the 1st then I am gonna find a better job.. maybe at a competitor haha.

I was also let go yesterday along with 3 of my team in engineering. Guess the feature set we were working on is going to be canned. So are the field sales teams just meant to flog the same old stuff with no new features? Surely our customers will see through that.

Got canned 2 weeks ago...guess it was 15-20% RIF across the board.

I was let go last week and the 2nd last of my team left. Didn't even get back to my options strike price. Bang on end of fin year too. Earnings call is going to be a shocker.

Two more let go of in the midwest. Another sales director taking a powder. 3 more PS folks handed in resignations.

Management is now looking for more to leave before SKO in 2 weeks.

Nearly every one of our customers is telling us that they are not interested in a 3yr renewal when they only plan to stick around for 1. Getting deplatformed at 4 BIG banks in the US.

Now Hortonworks customers are being told to upgrade to 3.1 before they can migrate to CDP.

Good grief!

Those of us in support are already running a skeleton crew for "green" customers. We have lost more talent to AWS and Google already. Guys on my team have had to work through holidays already.

And nobody is thrilled with Rob coming back. He is not bringing customers with him, just baggage from Docker.

Hearing similar in some areas of engineering. We are bracing for more bad news.

Not looking forward to the earnings call on Thursday. They already cancelled the monthly all hands call and this is not going to be any better.

Lost too many good people to other competitors and the things that differentiated us are already being done much easier in the cloud.

The only thing "cloud" at cloudera are the heads if our company.
