why did management (jim, Stephane, et al.) move to Toronto? Geez, maybe it had something to do with them being able to say decision making did not occur in the US!!!! The IRS doesn't totally buy decision making in Swiss when jim and stephane take a flight over for a meeting. Huge $s at stake if IRS argues that jim and stephane manage business from US. ...my 2 cents .

So we all thought when Jim S came to Toronto because Toronto was to be a hub... thought we were all in a good place ... but layoffs are still going on... groups are still learning the global systems... more layoffs are written in the Sky... so why did he really come to Toronto ? Well Canada on a global level is far better to deal with then the USA... so Canada exists purely for optic’s. It is only a matter of time and all the employee worker bees in Canada will see their jobs move the same as the rest... but TR will still exist because they shipped all there workers bee jobs to Costa Rica OR some other place where they don’t pay much corporate taxes. So Canada hopefully will see that it is not a Canadian company at all and stop buying their products. TR has no trouble shipping their jobs overseas and still expect to sell to Canadian Corps, firms & organizations ...

Surveys are a joke and written in a way that you can’t really provide a negative answer about management and our third party consultants (aka partners... E Y, McK, HUG*, [email protected], etc). McKin.... used to write the survey (and maybe they still do). The question about consultants/partners favored themselves no matter what. How convenient. Let’s keep dumping millions of dollars into consultants to develop systems that we could develop with in house talent for significantly less money that actually works. Nice job to our very “innovative” leadership team.

Sorry, but anyone who believes the annual surveys with their so called anonymous "personalised links" are anonymous, is naive. The question that people should be asking is what is all of the survey information being gathered for, and what exactly is the company doing with this information.

Stating the obvious, there has been a considerable shift in attitude by the company towards employees over the past 5 years or so, and unfortunately not for the better. My sympathy goes out to those who have been laid off, and I hope things improve for you soon.

I find the consequences from the latest round of "layoffs", particularly disheartening. (I put "layoffs" in quotes because technically people who are laid off are brought back when things improve for a company. It would be interesting to know just how many people TR has brought back onboard after they have been laid off.) I can't speak on other areas of the company, but some of the layoffs that have been made in my particular area make no sense at all, and border on being irrational. I have seen some really hardworking and productive employees being shown the door, and some unproductive people being left alone. Rather than actually saving money, the company will probably land up paying more because the so called improvements either don't work properly, or not at all. It just goes to show how out of touch management has become, and how many of these layoff rounds are implemented with any real thought about consequences for a short term gain.

In reality, this company spews about how much they care about the employee and send out surveys a couple of times a year to see how they are doing. They push people to answer the survey, but no one really does honestly, since most believe it is not confidential. The company does nothing with the info and they continue to replace solid long standing employees with less expensive alternatives. If they really cared about employees, they would look to retain folks, as opposed to the standard line, "feel free to apply for any job in the company". It really is disheartening to see how they treat people. "I know you have been here 20+ years and had exceptional reviews, volunteer time, work hard, take on new assignments, but your role is being moved to (pick the place), so we will replace you with someone cheaper that we have no idea about". Good luck finding a job!
