Best place to work in Austin

Cool for them. Too bad no one else gets a game room. Too bad snacks and sodas are in vending machines everyplace else, not provided. Too bad people are afraid of loosing their job while HQ gets a best place award. People are afraid to speak up. Best place to work? Joke. Bad joke.

8ewy,
Plan is still for the majority of position to be in Austin.
Austin decides what the LOBs should do.
Probably 60 positions as we also replace some non performant local people .
Stay tuned...

GV and Melville now hiring, how are things in Austin?

by

Post ID: @8ewy+131VHlR1

As a dev from Austin , I have never seen or heard from any corp what I see in rezi HQ. the whole management tree is bringing us to a crash. The more one looks up the more corrupt, extremely political and ineffective they become.
Backstabbing with smiles, lies, screwing other teams to gain “territory”, it’s insane.
We live in constant fear that a director here will blow up and tell us again to leave. I am telling everyone that has applied to look for certain problems and sure enough they bail out ASAP during or after the interview process. Extremely toxic environment where not smiling can get you fired or blacklisted as not important.
Are the other locations like this? We are getting a bad name locally for tech jobs

6dzz,
Neither the torch (more like a mini flashlight of .2W) , storm or quicksilver have done anything to save the security business .... at best the Edgardians and now moobians have hindered and backstabbed all previous efforts of recovery in the hope of getting more personal $ .
Moobs has noticed the shifting loyalties already and will respond as he prepares for giving them a “vacation” for not being faithful enough. - wearing flip flop as a sign of allegiance is not going to be enough anymore

by
|
Post ID: @6uie+131VHlR1

6ijz - What did the Human Fleshlight do? You mean Moobs and fleshlight didn't take the security world by storm (no pun) and fix QS in a week as planned?

Are you saying Moobster is getting ready to push Fleshlight under the bus?

Any word when Moobs gets back on his boat and goes on a cruise?

by
|
Post ID: @6dzz+131VHlR1

5aro,
That may not last. Fleshligth the torch screwed on the wrong end and moobs are not happy about this. They were supposed to own the whole security business -as they alone understand it. Well see some backstabbing soon. We hope Melville wins and those guys get kicked out

by
|
Post ID: @6ijz+131VHlR1

Melville now has 30+ engineering jobs posted. Might not have flip flops, but paychecks are nice too.

by
|
Post ID: @5aro+131VHlR1

I wonder what moobs would say if he knew that some of his reports are actually the one posting the most negative stuff about him and asking him to leave..... he is starting to hold them accountable and they do t like it

by
|
Post ID: @5zgg+131VHlR1

Let’s hope he takes his reports with him... those guys have destroyed rezi for the past year, first with the former CTO and now with moobs. As long as they are there they will prevent any culture change as they are the problem... not India not Europe not honeywell... it’s > them< And we know them they have projects like Buoy, storm, torch , lumina....

Post ID: @5vym+131VHlR1

4fmd - Moobs has been disengaged lately. Any idea when he will take the money and run? Hes running out of friends with Don Cazzo / Fredo with one foot out the door so lets hope thats the catalyst. Lets hope the brilliant crew he brought in takes his cue and walks out too. fingers crossed.

Hearing Moobs is about to go back to his boat. New leader knows he’s full of... ...

Post ID: @4fmd+131VHlR1

I’m going to guess your from BLR on your defense of a single code base/multi platform idea. Learn to handle error cases and we wouldn’t be having thing discussion. It’s like you learned how to to right code out of a CS101 class and never evolved. Now wonder our customers are looking elsewhere.

Yes, we do know that dragonfly visionary dumped Lumina recently on someone else to evade blame.

by
|
Post ID: @3dob+131VHlR1

You don’t even know who the owner of lumina is twit. It’s not the person you think it is so stop with the gossip. Find a new job.

by
|
Post ID: @3rzq+131VHlR1

So let me get this. Failing on lumina (repeat of the dragonfly ) and then asking employees concerned about no delivery and customer dis-satisfaction to leave rezi? Maybe that person should look elsewhere and while looking, get the job done so it doesn’t look too obviously like mis- management!. Nobody else but the owner of lumina should be blamed... that person owned everything yet failed. - again

Post ID: @3plx+131VHlR1

lol okay that’s an interesting take. The last I heard you’re beloved CTO was shelling out thousands of dozens of dollars to web services that were idle. The Honeywell spinoff left Resideo with the bad baggage to clean up. Get real dude. Or dudette. This site is a great laugh. No one valuable gets spun out. We’re here to pick up an start a-fresh.

Post ID: @3xub+131VHlR1

Nobody cares who you are. We are failing big time as a company thanks to greedy Dyson-esque folks who are only interested in cashing their ill-gotten Judas coins for selling out the rest of us to former CTO and offshoring. Step aside and let Rezi get on with real work so we don't lose more market share.

Last I checked HH is still shipping releases so are you talking about buoy customers? The app was rushed to production begrudgingly. Ask anyone one that team and they’ll let you know.

by
|
Post ID: @3tut+131VHlR1

3ruabrian,
I would be more concerned about our customers that are not getting what they deserve right now (an app that can actually work) and the effect of not delivering -again- on the morale of rezi.
Not seeing the connection are you looking for work elsewhere????

by
|
Post ID: @3auf+131VHlR1

to those concerned about Lumina, it’s a work in progress. It’s lacking in features atm. Sorry for your disappointment. Feel free to look for employment elsewhere.

Post ID: @3rua+131VHlR1

2xxe,
That buoy piece of expensive #^*€ was given the all clear from a technology POV by architecture and thus given the go ahead by the former CTO. It turned out to be more like a hack where we need to invest literally millions to make it acceptable. The reason it was released so fast even though not ready was to help the previous owner take in more $ by meeting fake targets. In term of investment this is representative of rezi lack of technological expertise and the mismanagement it has become known for in the past year and half.

by
|
Post ID: @3eyk+131VHlR1

Can someone tell me exactly what lumina is supposed to achieve??? The app of all app?
And when will buoy actually become a viable product?

by
|
Post ID: @2xxe+131VHlR1

qqt,
That’s a management issue if they don’t deliver a product... goes back to the rezi mismanagement lawsuits

Lol... fwd is not from Austin or the US. Look at how poorly written the English is. You guys are too gullible.

Problem is well known and centers in sycophants in austin that flood their social circles with fake achievements.
Everyone knows it. Yet nothing gets done so any restart may fail. Worse now some people copy the behavior as they see that as a way to get ahead in the sinking company
Marketing meanwhile continues to place their bet in those losers and we have a repeat of granite, Titan ...and they helped destroy engineering to help their social friends

by
|
Post ID: @1ivl+131VHlR1

Austin may have gotten fleshligth moobs and al and their arrogant developers to claim they understand the whole security business, master software and so forth but at the end what are the results from Austin ? Number manipulation... there is a pattern with some people, they lies and spout some id–tic words that seems to be like technology ...meanwhile the Whole company sunk software wise, but moobs gave the direction to focus on slack...and what do you see? Plenty of stupid discussions and nothing coming out but fake news, all the while drinking and smoking interesting stuff

by
|
Post ID: @1may+131VHlR1

You’re all jealous of Austin and it’s top class management. We have learned from All those directors and VP and they are on top of the security restart as well as fixing all other LOBs

Post ID: @bob+131VHlR1

fwd - in what alternate universe do you believe that could possibly be true. Not sure what kind of metrics you could use to support that argument. Since Austin has existed, the REZI performance has been record setting, in the wrong direction. At least you're in Austin and if you can convince other tech companies you are that good (after you are kicked down the road by rezi) you might be able to find another job.

by
|
Post ID: @zms+131VHlR1

fwd - how did you help the stock price to rise today? Oh, it didn’t.

by
|
Post ID: @sin+131VHlR1

fwd - Ya know Texas is famous for two things (an old reference look it up during your milk and cookies time at work). One of them ain’t Resideo. The only reason the company is there giving you a chance to build upon the greatness of very smart engineers of the past is because the soon to be ex CEO lives there. Otherwise you’d think you were overly important somewhere else.

sat...
Don’t be jealous of Austin . We are the best developers rezi has. We can beat Melville and others with one hand tied...... good luck old timer on eating asbestos in Melville

by
|
Post ID: @fwd+131VHlR1

Seriously that award does nothing except anger the other locations who are treated like red headed step children when it comes to perks. In Melville we had to shut down our cafeteria for weeks due to infestation issues that were never acknowledged by local leadership, facilities or the food sevice company that runs it. Also I love how they push our sh–ty health benefits as a perk when we probably have the worst in the industry by a long shot.

Post ID: @foo+131VHlR1

mko - sounds like you don’t have much experience outside of kindergarten. You will soon learn you are not as important as you think. You are only a resource that a company can easily replace. Good luck to you.

Post ID: @sat+131VHlR1

qqt,
You don’t seem to understand how the market works in Austin. We have tons of options... maybe you’re too old to get this and need to move to a small cube with grey tapestry that suits your mood

by
|
Post ID: @mko+131VHlR1

hkm - what you want is a rec hall, not a place of business. The employees need to concentrate on working not eating and playing ping pong or foos-ball. They need to come to work 8 to 5, take an hour lunch, and produce a product so the company can make money.

Post ID: @qqt+131VHlR1

This is what needs to happen in Austin
Really flexible hours and work from home.
Better food available and free meals with varied menu, free drinks with beers and wine and better choices of games available.
Finally more projects where we can learn and sharpen our new skills. Stop that obsession with dates, release comes when the product is ready from an agile sense. This is supposed to be fun and relaxed.
This is what is offered in many places and rezi needs to be competitive and start delivering on the perks ASAP as promised by the director.

by
|
Post ID: @hkm+131VHlR1

Why should we be in “the best” place when you have ineffective management that spends more time doing favors to other people right above them and actively backstabbing Idjits in other areas and Austin hallways. Better use those fools to get the next gig in Austin at a better and true startup. There is just so much you can learn going in circle, and it’s well know in the city that rezi is a place where you learn for your next gig... Feel sorry for those just came to move to Austin. Especially those from marketing and local H1B Pmo that seem particularly easy to fool. We love them as they leave us in peace spouting their blah like little puppies, we can’t stop laughing when they leave the room. H1B are like cat videos we can see them over and over and over....

What we really need is more Topo's for the moobians. I'm pretty sure all the podgenickles in marketing steal all the snacks.

Best place to work my a–! Seriously I've seen fast food restaurant with more snack and beverage perks then this place.

What we really need are free Doritos, lunch allowance and puppies for everyone.

After not getting anywhere in meetings, I damn well need a comfort puppy!
