Q1 2020 layoffs has begun!

Welp! Q1 has begun and so have the lay-offs. My print manager/supervisor position is being removed and merged with client engagement manage as one. This company is falling bad.

Very sad situation. I am in the CEM position, now being eliminated and going to the SSS position, at least I did not have to take a pay cut. I wonder sometimes if the corporate desk jockeys ever really worked in one of their stores. Maybe they should try undercover boss. See what it is like being in the print/copy dept for a whole day. This restructuring they're claiming is to give customers more face to face with associates, but have they ever thought that there would be more hours if we weren't having to take down "sale" shelf pricing on Saturday to just put up the same damn "sale" price on Sunday morning. Think of the man hours it takes to print "the ad", tear it, take the old sale down, put the new sale up....multiply that by the number of stores and WOW there would be some significant savings. Run the sale for longer than a week you id–ts. Not to mention, get some stock in our stores that the customers will buy. Why have stuff that doesn't sell? You're taking up valuable shelf space. Get products in the stores that the customers need and want and will BUY, thus increasing sales! This is not rocket science, it is called supply and demand. Most people that walk into a brick and mortar store want to take what they want home with them, they do not necessarily want to order it. If they did, they could do that from the comfort of their home. Since I've been with depot, I've seen our office chairs become more "delivery" than take with you. And don't get me started on our selection of laptops and computers. Very Very sad what they are doing

This used to be a good company to work for, they stopped paying for any holidays, They are fixing to sink and I can see why, you can not run a store sitting in a office, They would rather you waste your time in getting a rewards card instead of helping customers to get the sales, All I can say is jump now if you can,.. For the high up. you could have prevented this...You should have listened to your employees...not just the managers or the district mangers

I'm in the same boat. 30 years experience in CPD and Graphic Design. Easily replaced by any other floor employee, right. This will not go over well with the high maintenance (not in a bad way) clients. They will be going where they can get a dedicated rep who understands their design and production needs.

I know what you're meaning, as I'm affected by this myself. Cross-training in CPD is fine, until you get that difficult customer that wants things done that a person who's never worked CPD has no clue what they want done. That will both irk the customer off, as well as the long term employee who has no clue what to do in CPD.

It's disgusting. I'm so glad I bailed 9 months ago after being with this company for almost 10 years. 6 of them as a GM. They cut our payroll so bad I was burning 8hrs of PTO a week to make payroll and not have to cut my staffs hours. Now the lower volume stores lose their CEM. Most print sups can't lead their way out of a wet paper bag. Oh and now everyone has to be cross trained in CPD. Doesn't work. That part of the store has the most complicated demanding customers. Has any of the top brass ever ran a store? Maybe but way back when payroll was unlimited and people got paid. Good luck to who ever is left.

Partner been with them for almost 22 yrs, was just told his supervisor position has been merged with next slot up and his last day is Feb 7th. Loyalty means zilch to this company. They’d trade their kids off for a few reward signups.

My position as a CEM was dissolved today. Offered me a severance package. Lay-off date is February 7th. Been with the company for less than two months. Unreal.

They just eliminated my position CEM and gave me the option to severance or take a pay cut and part time. Leaning toward severence it's a sinking ship the retail side is dead.

OD is dead, work in BSD, Gerry cut us so bad last year we can’t get anything accomplished. Not sure how we can keep this going, we are in a very strong economy in a struggling industry.
