Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Covid-19 and steps we need to take

The fact of the matter is that the people in suits don't need to worry as much about being infected while working on premises since they have their own separate offices to themselves, walled off from everyone else. The rest of us are sitting together working at our cubes, eating at the cafe, and sharing the break rooms.

The President declared a national emergency, multiple governors and mayors have declared their own emergencies over their jurisdiction. The same can be said for other countries and multiple corporations have asked all their people to work from home.

Despite all of that, Anthem leadership scoffs at any concerns and downplays the pandemic and has yet to make an official decision to allow employees to work remotely. This shows the level of distrust leaders have for their own teams as well as a lack of concern for both associates' mental & physical health.

What needs to happen is associates (and contractors) need to band together and take the matter into our own hands. Make a collective decision and lets either walk out, or start working from home and force leaderships hand in this.

We need to stop this self destructive behavior and stop letting the people in suits get away with what they think is best for them.

Walk out.

If two do it, firing is easy.

If two thousand do it, then not a chance.

The Woodland Hills, CA office has 2 associates that had feared of being infected yet they were told they would not be able to go home unless they already had a positive test!!! They cant be tested and they didn't have PTO left so they are working !!!!!!!!!!1

Someone in customer service came into contact with someone who had a family member who tested positive for COVID-19. She was forced to come to work or else get a written up. Anthem get ready for lawsuits. You need to close shop ASAP !!

Gail made an announcement a couple days ago and asked people that have the capability to work from home to do so, however that isn’t enough.

If you’re a front office worker, don’t have a laptop, and/or isn’t setup to use the VPN, then keep pressing.

Other companies such as Comcast, HCA, Cintas, and even our competitor CVS Health has taken steps such as adding new VPN licenses, ordering new laptops, or allowing corporate associates to take their desktop computers home to do remote work for the next several weeks.

Anthem has had several possible cases of covid 19 so if you’re still in the office, keep pressing, or walk out.

For the record, Anthem leadership is not interested in the well being of their associates, they are more concerned with keeping the stock price afloat, hence why there’s such strong rhetoric about keeping the business moving during the virus outbreak.

The number of new cases keeps exponentially growing, and Anthems employee demographic is at high risk of ending up as a critical case if infected by the virus.

Most of you folks forget what Anthem is. It’s not some evil empire - it’s a collection of individuals working together. Just like any company, the machine is made up of thousands of parts. Perhaps you should put your energy towards trying to make it a better place instead of whining and complaining about how unfair it is. It must be exhausting.

Dear people who just like to complain: there are technical requirements that have to be dealt with before the company can just take thousands of people from an office and send them home. That VPN connection you use? It’s license-based. Need to first increase capacity on servers, then VPN bandwidth, and then deal with purchasing laptops, imaging them, headsets, etc. IT has been diligently working on it since this all started. Not everyone will get to work from home because not everyone needs to. The idea is to shift enough to home that the remaining folks can practice social distancing. If you WFH is a party or any easier than being in the office, you clearly shouldn’t be working from home.

If I still worked for Anthem, you can bet your a–, I’d be working from home at this point. Don’t let Anthem decide your fate. If you continue going in to work just to be a good associate, you could get sick or die. And you STILL could be RIF’ed like so many of us were.

Take care of your and stay SAFE!

Associates should start posting this on Pulse page, but it will probably disappear quickly since no negative or real comments are allowed. It is shameful that Anthem is not stepping up and looking out for associates and their families, unnecessarily putting people at risk. They talk a big talk about caring but here is your proof of how little they value us. Like we didn’t know already with constant layoffs

Anthem not putting out an official memo suggesting associates work from home due to the corona virus is not only putting their associates at risk but the community as well. Anthem leadership have really gone down the drain.

As I sit here in a very empty office ( can only speak for mr floor) parking lot pretty empty this Monday morning. Although Anthem hasn't given the green light to work from home across the board, Im hearing some people were granted to work from home, some people just are. Some people have always worked from home why am I here ?

I agree wholeheartedly. We are in Georgia and told we can't work from home. But the NY claims team can. That's favoritism and it shows they care nothing about everyone. Anthem does not practice what they preach.
