Layoffs will always hang over our heads. But, think about all of the most bet Humana is saving right now: few hospitalizations besides covid related; few procedures; few dr visits and specialist visits. And their premiums are still coming in. Just thinking about it, seems to me they should be making mucho money right now.

@fvls+13ZpWa89 They are not going to lay people off if that means the job can't get done. There is still a contract with the Member and with Medicare. Expect to see changes in work practice. More people working at home, agile work practices, breakdown in traditional barriers to role. The way out of any financial difficulty for Humana will be more members not just reduced costs.

Thank god for having a job in difficult time. There are families without having lunch. I hope we all survive this difficult period.

I think we can expect massive layoffs by the end of the year as Humana tries to recover the billions of dollars lost from waiving copays for Corona. This will be a lay-off like we have never seen before.

Didnt get a raise this year because of the health care tax. They said they needed to pay for that instead of giving me a raise. I hope if they get bailed out, maybe that could be a source of an increase

The nurses will be used elsewhere IF they are needed elsewhere. Likely Humana will realize that is it time to move a lot more people home instead of expensive offices and high overhead. They will also realize that there is still more staff than is needed to do the job-especially when many are getting paid a full time salary but only working part time and early retirement packages and/or layoffs will be considered.

Uneducated opinion here, but:

1) I think any job in Health Care is pretty secure right now, and health insurance is a job in Health Care.

2) There is a risk of medical expenses overwhelming any health insurance company, HOWEVER, our focus lately has been Medicare, which – being government related – is likely to get a relief package.

3) This increases (greatly) the probability that the House will grant health insurance companies relief from that tax that would have cost Humana 1 billion.

4) In fact, I see the government bailing out MANY industries. Travel, airlines, hospitals, insurance companies, all sorts of groups will be getting some FedDollars. This will bite us in taxes and deficits someday, but for the short term will help.

No idea. The NBA closed down so the Playoffs will be delayed at least.
