Tommy is not able to captain the ship, he is going to make his millions and jump ship! He don't care about nobody. Caring as a core value my a$$. Company don't give sht about good performing solid 2 employees being let go. If he cared , how about getting himself a few million less and saving some jobs?

How about the the upper management at Cummins just gives up their profit sharing for the year.. that would probably save over half of who were FIRED.
By the way, that's another peeve of mine, calling it "layoffs" then waving that severance in your face as you agree to never come back. Last I checked, thats the definition of FIRING
This company does not understand business cycles as evidenced by 30 plus years of this same behavior. Unfortunately other companies in their industry copy them in a monkey see monkey do way. They will be recruiting again soon when all of their predictions are proven wrong.
Layoffs help them meet their goals... so they can make more in bonus.
So it is true, they are letting people go who are ones also and it's not about any rank at all. And actually if you think about it they have never said (correct me if I'm wrong) that when they layoff/fire people it will be only on rank number. I think the middle managers (who are the bosses of the first tier managers) and upper ones want to have the ability to get rid of people that they don't like and/or are trying to open up a slot for their family member in the near future.
