If you get an interview at SunGard, ask this one question: what are my prospects for career advancement? Answer: zero. If you want to have a job for 6 to 12 months (tops) and then be sacked with no warning, then this is the place for you.

The severance packages are garbage.
Yes I agree
I doubt they care at this point if we stay or leave ..... less people to pay severance to
Got review no word on rasies yet, or 401k how can a company that wants us to be so positive not know if we're getting raises or 401K contributions at our reviews. you don't know where you stand with your money situation to the point where you have to wait a week before your supposed to get a raise to decide whether or not you can afford it well that pretty much tells you everything doesn't it. Talk is cheap actions speak much louder.
I remember when my manager asked me that question months before the being RIF. Could not answer that question because of what would happen in the months to come.
Fortunately a lot of younger folks were laid off and got an dosage of perhaps it's not good to always accept an job whenever an offer is extended. It's an two way street and the candidate needs to investigate the perspective employer as much as the perspective employer investigate them. For example what carrier advancement is there? Is there job security? How are the financials? Are products competitive to the industry?
