Thread regarding Stanley Works layoffs

No thinking outside the box

Many companies have nepotism and outdated practices, but I’ll be damned if I ever saw a company where all layers of management are such slaves of outdated procedures without even the thought of trying something new that would make our work at least a little easier and more effective.
I’ve been with a few companies in my days, so I don't say this lightly. Only one school of thought prevails and anyone who goes outside that box and even suggests something new is labeled as “enemy of the state”. How can we trust such people to lead us? How can we hope to be a competitive company with these criteria in decision making? Will they ever get rid of the “my way or the highway” mentality?
