Thread regarding Marriott layoffs

Business is as good as the people who work for it. All trough the years Marriott focused on training and developing a culture that made the company a success, when the ruff got going, Marriott got red off they eldest employees. Payroll is a single biggest expense for this type of business so when the pandemic hit, the workers who got fired. We are still hoping that Marriott will have a change of hart and make good on severance package. Lots of other chains were able to honor they commitments, Marriott, the world is watching.

In Maryland bonus money from a prior year in a lay off in 2020 is owed fully so maybe a reason it is getting paid

OMG we will get through this where is your faith. File for unemployment until this is over or go Drive uber. SMH.

Marriott was decent while Bill Marriott ran it , now it only cares about profits !
Employees are let go as they get older to bring in cheap young workers.
They try to convince you the benefits are great so they pay a pittance and then act like it’s a decent wage! Ha!
Amazon pays more for startup jobs first day at $17 an hour than a friend of mine made after 10 years at Marriott what a joke.
If you are a Marriott employee do not be under the false pretense that they care they don’t!
Don’t drink the kool aid of the cult like behaviors of the Management teams that get bonuses off of driving lowly hourly employees into the ground.
Best advice you deserve better and it’s out there Marriott management will try to convince you to not test the waters or you will fail , no you will find respect and a much better wage and life .

14 years with Marriott and furloughed this past Wednesday. I hope once this clears I’ll still have a job. Since Arne too over 8years ago the care for its employees changed. Marriott stopped caring once Mr. Marriott stepped down. I’ve seen good and bad with this company mostly bad now days....too focused on bottom line and squeezing every penny out of every area and sacrificing care to the employees.

Directors and up, still making bonus money accrued in 2019. All other, reduced pay, unpaid leave and cost cutting. This makes no sense. We should all carry the burden of the downturn. This is inconsiderate, nobody needs that kind of money in this time. If the worker is at the center of everything at Marriot then act that way, you are giving us empty words only.
