Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

Does anyone think this Corona ia going to result in mass layoffs?

When we all get back to the office, how do you think this is going to play out?

Corona-virus will provide the air cover Enrique needs to accelerate layoffs. I recently left HP for a rock solid company. Nearly 30% more pay, better work/life balance, & no more stupid phone calls with people from India I couldn't understand. My advice: Get out while the getting is good & before you have to fight other HPers for jobs in your community.

Where have you been?? X has been laying off people for the last decade and escalated it these last two years. It's not going to stop.

HP decided WFH didn't work years ago, but this is a new world. Working from home, connections, expectations and the type of work most folks do in the US is fine for working from home. Go back to Jeopardy, oldie.

That ain't going to happen. They already did that for several years and decided they didn't want people working from home. I went into an office where I worked with only one person and even then any discussions were calls and not F2F.

Alas, there are those that think being in the office it positive and since HP sets the conditions of employment, you agree or leave. Frankly, I think it's very 20th century.

More likely HP finds out the company can operate with 30% reduction in daily work time, realize savings of letting people work from home and no longer see it necessary to operate large sites. When it all plays out HP will find efficiencies in this new model and that will lead to reductions in sites and workforce.
