Invest in a good butt plug so will be able to accommodate all the new work when your start.

Well, I was just laid off after 9+ years. So what does that tell you?

You must be new to storage. There is a constant threat of layoffs. Work culture is horrid- incompetent management, backstabbing culture starting from the top and flowing to the bottom. You will be berated and yelled at for missing deadlines that are never clearly defined. If you got a 'good' package, don't expect any raises or bonuses. Unless you bury your nose deep so it's gets a nice dark brown. Seems new hires come in smiling and within six months they are looking how to get out. Unless you need to be in the lab, you can work from home. i use work in the weakest possible sense.

On the positive side, you'll find out how a company should not be managed. And you'll pay more attention to all the red flags when you interviewed so you won't make the same mistake for the next job.

i have been offered a firmware staff engineer positon and great package and the position so good. i wanted to know if the work culture and future of company is good in terms of current situation and no layoff are coming soon.

Also not sure if they are letting enployees work from home for their safety.

If your on the low end of ladder, then you can probably be content in the job for a few years, once you get to a higher wage, then you are tossed for new cheap grads

why start in HDD? you will walk away with nothing and it only make finding the next job harder. you have time, find something better. which is pretty much anything other than HDD.

really, don't throw away your career w/ a bad first step.

That is probably a better question for your hiring manager than us. Jobs can be very secure even in a recession if you are supporting a contract where you are very much needed.

Your job offer will not be rescinded by asking good, valid questions. Particularly if you are making a major change to your living situation to work.
