It's official. The EVP of Airbus Engineering has planned to lay off all contract employees in the Americas. O'Leary states that he is trying to save some of them, but I give it two weeks, tops. Direct employees supposedly will be retained, but I wouldn't count on that. Airbus could easily reduce or almost eliminate their engineering footprint in America, while still maintaining the production facilities, including engineering liaisons for manufacturing plant. Otherwise, I see no reason why they couldn't all but eliminate engineering personnel in the Americas. Don't assume the leadership team are telling the truth. Just because they're European, doesn't mean it's not a business, after all. FAL production employees are probably in the best position to weather this storm, but even that is uncertain.
