Several people I know were laid off on Friday, but I couldn't find the final number anywhere. Have they notified everybody who was on the layoffs list? How worried should I be about today?
I really wish the company was more transparent about this whole thing.
I agree that this is likely all they have planned currently, but obviously that is subject to change depending on the market.
As one of the employees recently laid off, I understand that these are very uncertain times. But I also think that most these layoffs are very short sighted. I personally believe that they will be rehiring many of these positions back in the next six months and any 'gains' made from layoffs will be offset by all of the severance packages and layoff benefits paid out.
I don't think there's another round. They're using this short downturn as an excuse to clear house and trim the fat. The amount of money saved by terminating employees pales in comparison to every other major cut they've made so far.
