NetApp has eliminated somewhere between 55-75 PS jobs and are transitioning most, if not all of those positions to CGI (cgi.com). Announcement was made today. Last day is 5/15. Managers and "individual contributors" were both impacted.

Thankfully NetApp kept its word of no layoffs during this period. Other companies not so fortunate.
Bottom line, no jobs were eliminated.
It s—s but its not a layoff.
If you were given the opportunity to move laterally to CGI, it's not a layoff. I'm inside the team so I sorta know the plan. You might not like it it, but to people outside of NetApp who really did get laid off, it's absolutely not the same, it's insulting.
I agree with those saying this is nothing more than trolling from people outside of NetApp making a mountain out of a mole hill.
This was in fact a layoff because the people affected, of which I am one, got termination packages in accordance with the layoff. Yes, you were given the option of taking a job with CGI but if you did not exercise that option you did NOT have the option to stay with NetApp. Let's be perfectly clear, the offer from CGI was part of the business deal between NetApp & CGI and was required in order to give CGI the NetApp skill set that it needs. So this exchange of people between companies was absolutely not done out of the goodness of NetApp's heart. It was done because that was the business deal.
Plus, people were given less than 5 days to decide to decline or accept the CGI job and less than 2 weeks to transition to CGI. So this was every bit a layoff, but was part of a larger business deal so in this case it wasn't as painful for those effected. But anyone that suggests otherwise doesn't know what they are talking about. I read the termination notice since I got one. It's a layoff, period.
Hey TROLL Alert what do you think migrated means are you stupid. Migrated means a bunch of us PS are not longer NetApp employees we got cut and laid off. We will be CGI employees if we got an offer and be contracted back to NetApp. So your too dumb to understand the internal email about this or a outside Troll.
This person clearly and admittedly does not work at NetApp currently. There were ZERO layoffs from this and all employees migrated seamlessly which is why they don't mention names.
Keep trying though.
This IS a layoff if you were affected.
If you are lucky CGI has a role for you (probably at a new compensation).
I guarantee you only a select few will be picked up while others will not. You can try to sugarcoat all you want to try to make yourself feel better about your own position and future. This was once a great company but the storage market has changed drastically in the last 5 years and Netapp never prioritized PS sales, kept hiring knuckleheads in services sales and no support from sr leadership to leverage services to supersize deals. Everyone was apathetic.. The people that recognized this as it was happening left as soon as they could. So glad I was one of them.
Wishing all my old co-workers all the best.
LOL, so funny how a few trolls will do anything they can to make an outsourcing contract into a fake layoff story.
Wow - this quite a bit different than the troll spin on this.
"CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A) today announced the award of a 5-year contract from NetApp, a leading cloud data services provider, to deliver managed professional services leveraging data fabrics."
OK, now, go back and make up a new story about layoffs.
Here's the announcement: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/netapp-selects-cgi-to-accelerate-digital-initiatives-for-enterprise-clients-in-the-americas-301054802.html
Its funny how the NetApp employees are the last to know.
Clearly nothing but more trolling, nothing internal or external on this.
Announced where? Link?
What is PS?
