KB Home layoffs are happening right now - people are anxious and this is huge for us. The cuts are happening at boht the division level as well as corporate office and their centralized accounting center.
Layoffs started happening on May 9th after financials and forecasts were submitted to the corporate office.

Sadly this is not unusual for a public company builder. They live and die on the quarterly earnings reports. You can't cut the construction overhead (lumber, concrete, etc.) so there's only one way to shine up the earnings report - cut the human overhead. I went through this with another nationwide public builder in the mortgage bundling fiasco in 2007.
